Cazzie22 Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 It’s a W but with Mast out it’s going to be tough sledding. I would expect a better effort against S Carolina St. Handy Johnson 1 Quote

cornfed24-7 Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 Ugly. But we won. What I learned from this game. No Mast = No postseason. Better be just 2 games he's gone emwilliams and HuskerMB 2 Quote
hskr4life Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 A hit to the NET, KenPom, etc. after a win is a lot better than the hit we'd take with a loss. Vinny and doc1394 2 Quote
cozrulz Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 They played way better when I wasn't paying attention. Good enough. Quote

hskr4life Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 We desperately need Mast back for the Indiana game. 1st half Allick (and Big Red) doesn't give us a chance without Mack. 2nd half Allick would give us a chance, but Mast seems to be a piece that we can ill afford to lose. Quote
cipsucks Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I really like this team. Carry on. Swan88, HuscurAdam, Silverbacked1 and 1 other 1 1 2 Quote

49r Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 Didn't get hurt too bad in KenPom after this one. Only dropped 4 spots to #49. (But I'd expect them to maybe fall a couple more by morning) Quote

Rest up, come back next week and get back to it. Need a big W vs SCST and then the fun starts. Quote
royalfan Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 just glad to survive this, I really thought we wewre going to lose very early in 2nd half. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 (edited) Fugly first half. Much better 2nd half. - missed Mast...a lot. - we looked gassed in the 1st half. - it was a win. In past years, that was a loss. Edited December 21, 2023 by Huskerpapa Faux Mike Peltz 1 Quote
hhcmatt Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I need to go back and look but feel like we play really well when we're down by a possession at half. Down by 10 is certainly a bigger hill Quote

AuroranHusker Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 An extended 30-7 in the middle part of the 2nd half was really due to persistent effort on the defensive end and finally rebounding the basketball. UND finished the night with 19 offensive boards, which is completely unacceptable going forward in the B1G games after the turn of the year. That consistent defensive effort and getting after the glass by Allick, Williams, & Gary is what turned the tide. And Sam Hoiberg's little 5-0 spurt on his own in the 1st half helped stem the early run from UND. All in all, it's a dub. You can move on without the epitome of brutality tweet from Jon Rothstein having to be written. GBR HuscurAdam and nuhusker7 1 1 Quote
KZRider Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 SO GLAD they came out and PLAYED in the second half rather than whatever that was in the first. Experience has taught me to expect the Huskers to lose games like this. I would have bet money on it at halftime and am thrilled I would have lost that bet! Still, a good reminder I shouldn't bet on games. Quote

I think they finally realized that they couldn't just show up & coast to an easy dub, that's when they cranked up the defense and finally started to rebound the basketball. It took a while, but they got their wake-up call without having to actually lose a game they shouldn't have. nuhusker7 Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 As frustrating and concerning as they first half was, I’ve come away pretty happy from this game. We have lost this game so many times over the last three coaches, and we came away with a win. Juwan is obviously very athletic and has a great wingspan, but it’s his ability to always be in the right place and timing that make him such an incredible rebounder. It’s an absolute game changer when he’s locked in like he was in the second half tonight. All wins are good wins. GBR! Quote
