this stretch followed by those first 4 games of January are really going to tell us where we are as a team..  Can we go 4-4 over those 8..  I think id take that.

This is pretty much where I'm at too, TBH.  5-3 is not unrealistic either though.

4-4 over the next 8 would be a tad disappointing if we're trying to make the tournament. At the same time, 4-4 makes the postseason fairly likely.

Now need 4-2 over the next six.  Big yikes.

Is there a win left on the schedule?  Tonight’s 2nd half performance leads me to believe not many.

Prolly saw the 13th and 14th place teams tonight.   Guess which one is 14th?

Sucks for us too because the Big 10 is actually starting to trend in the right direction and looks to be a top 2 conference once again.  6-8 bids isn't out of the question, but after the last two games, I see us nowhere near the 6-8 spots in the conference anymore.

I thought we looked so well the first 7 games... but we've never really faced adversity until now and we look terrible now that it's reared it's ugly head.

We all -- or at least a lot of us -- were seeing chinks in the armor even when we were 7-0:

  • Brice's body language
  • Keisei complaining about no-calls
  • Some don't seem to want to pass the ball to Keisei
  • Hit a skid even when we were winning where we didn't look good doing it
  • No guards with lateral quickness
  • Getting significantly outrebounded by Duquesne and barely outrebounding Cal Fullerton

I was really concerned about how well they'd bounce back after a demoralizing loss to Creighton. And you'd think a 15-point halftime lead against Minnesota would indicate a pretty good bounce back. BUT I texted a buddy last night at half that I was nervous we wouldn't close it out. We'd been successful earlier in the year by having balanced scoring and, last night, Brice accounted for basically half of our first-half scoring. And Keisei hadn't scored at all. So I was concerned we wouldn't withstand a run if Minnesota put anything together.

The season is still young. We're barely a third of the way through. There's still LOTS of basketball to be played. But our margins just got a lot narrower to be in contention for any kind of post-season.

Last night felt like a Nebraska Football game when we're up 2-3 TD's. Yup. That's not enough boys. Still feel like we probably lose this one.

Last night shattered me. I predicted we'd fight and claw for a "last 4 in" type of season. But it's apparent this team has no fight or claw. They graduated.

After our undefeated start I was curious to see how we’d respond once we were “punched in the mouth” & the live bullets started to fly. Disappointing doesn’t even scratch the surface, & taking solace in the fact it’s a LONG season is a double edged sword.

Extends the misery.

Sorry guys im gunna be positive for a second, If we can somehow win 1 of the next 2 and then take care of business against ND and SCSU how would every body be feeling going into a home game against indiana?

Another random question, if you had the reigns to set the starting 5 for the next game what would it look like? Pretty much just asking to see how many people want Juwan to start over Allick

I might Start Gary & let Tominaga come off the Bench.

I wouldn't change it.  I get what Fred is doing, subbing in Juwan and moving Allick to the 5.  Then Rienk comes back in and Allick sits.  Allick comes back in for Juwan.  Repeat.

If we win the next two, and assuming we beat ND and SCSU, I might have to pull out the grapple hook and start ascending hope mountain again.

Personally wouldn't touch it yet. Gary closes halves/games, so they clearly know he's best fit at the 4, but starting mast and allick is *SUPPOSED* to set a physical tone from the jump. Plus, Gary giving the team a solid 8-10 points off the bench is going to help as the season goes on. Maybe give the starting lineup a shorter leash, and yank one of the bigs after 3 or 4 minutes vs the regular 6 or so (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this).

If there's any adjustment lineup wise to change, it looks like boogies minutes are slowly getting sliced. He can't hit a 3 to save his life. Saw Sam and Brice handle ball handling duties for him the other night in the second half. And in the last game vs CFSU, when Lawrence went down boogie got a run for like a minute or two but got yanked after 2 or 3 straight bad offensive possessions. Sam ran the 1 from that point on. If boogie doesn't figure it out, that's the move they'll make. And I'm not sure if Lloyd being available changes that at all, as I'm not sure he's a real person.

Forget about post season play.  I need to see a competitive EFFORT against MSU. All of us should expect that from Nebraska.

That is a reasonable expectation, and NU did just that & were fortunate to have prevailed tonight for their hustle, passing, shooting, & rebounding efforts. GBR

To my wife's disgust I was screaming for FH to call a timeout in the second half when Minnesota was about one third into its massive comeback but he did not and would not call the TO until NU was already decimated.

FH has a pattern of simply watching NU meltdown and not calling TO's until it's too late.

I believe Sam at one point finally called a timeout because Fred wouldnt...  Comical
