Damn-- but also OOF to any team that does allow him on the court if he can't pass a physical.

He's already passed a physical, just not a Nebraska physical.

Curious how he failed the physical. If it was related to the heart issues, how does that pop up? Do sports physicals include ECG's? I suppose anyone who collapses like that should get readings done pretty regularly. Damn that sucks.

Maybe the issue is intermittent.    Good thing they caught it.     Hope he gets it managed and lives a long happy life.

I wonder if he got a vaccine shot recently....

Could easily be this kids Dr's are like, "Yeah man you're good to go!"

And Nebraskas Dr's are like, "Yeah, nah man its a no go for us."

That's certainly possible.  Personally,  I would error on the side of caution, one negative result would be enough for me to walk away.

I'm with you. Too much risk for me. Sucks for the kid and for the basketball team.

I wonder if Hank Gathers got the COVID vaccine 32 years ago. If it's hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, then it would make sense why Florida and Nebraska don't want him playing ball and it would be extremely reckless if another school lets him play with that condition.

I guess he didn't study enough.

Here's how it works: if he had come here, he would have had another cardiac event.  But since he couldn't be cleared here medically, he'll go on to have a 15 year NBA career.

Glad we could help the young man out.

Appears that Keyonte is cleared, practicing and 100% prepared to play for KSU this season.  Appears once again NU's compliance/medical staff exists solely to make things more difficult for this program to succeed.

“I never thought about quitting basketball,” Johnson said. “I mean, it was difficult for me at times not knowing what was going to happen next, but I got cleared to play and went from one good medical report to the next. I really wanted to play basketball again. So that was my main focus. I just prayed to God that everything would work out, and now I’m in a great situation now.”

“He’s very healthy right now,” Tang said. “He’s doing a great job and he hasn’t missed any time at all at practice. He is getting in better shape. He competes at a very high level. So I’m looking forward to him continuing to get better.”

Ask the Wildcats what they think about Johnson, and they talk about the senior forward as if he is one of the best players in the Big 12. “I don’t see how he isn’t,” K-State guard Markquis Nowell said. “He can do pretty much anything on the basketball court. He’s very skilled. He has a high basketball IQ. And he’s a big guard who can play any position from the one to the four. He can handle it, he can shoot it and he can play defense, too. I don’t know what else to say. He’s really, really good.”

We're not the only team that did not clear him. I have no problem with it, this isn't something you mess around with. If there was any doubt in our medical staff's minds, then it wasn't worth it.

Was he coming here if we cleared him?

I imagine that it would be safe to say he would come here only if Nebraska was the only team to clear him.  Safety school, so to speak.
