  1. Maybe the issue is intermittent. Good thing they caught it. Hope he gets it managed and lives a long happy life. I wonder if he got a vaccine shot recently....
  2. Yah, I think your right. Can't find anything specific to the limits for winter sports. Spring sports are different I guess.
  3. Doesn't Derrick Walker count as a super senior? I don't think his scholarship counts towards the 13 limit.
  4. I would rather sign him now vs having him go the 5th year prep school route because I am sure he would get more P5 offers.
  5. I think we need a PF/Post given that we have a point guard and a wing in the fold, so like that they are looking at Atlason.
  6. Sounds like he would be a good hire. Here is a past interview. https://www.stitcher.com/show/tell-me-your-story-coach/episode/ep-24-ernie-zeigler-assistant-coach-at-mississippi-state-86377017

  8. I am not involved with UARC and I am not smart enough to travel in those type of circles. I just have a lot of time on my hands. I researched the AAU criteria and University rankings a long time ago so that I could participate in discussions and stumbled across it. It's cool that you helped set it up. Not as cool as UFO stuff but cool nonetheless.
  9. It's weird they make such a big deal about AAU status. Pearlman said it. It doesn't mean much. What has changed? Nothing! At most it's a lobby group. It's a much bigger deal being a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) with the Department of Defense. Only 14 schools can claim that and Nebraska is one of them. That affiliation is prestige & money. That means something.
  10. Fantastic point! Those generations that grew up during that period and before remember that stuff. Now we need to get it turned around so we don't lose the current generation. With the addition of USC&UCLA, I am once again thankful for the foresight that T.O, Pearlman and the Nebraska leadership showed in making the leap to the Big Ten. While I am not a huge fan of the decline of the old conference affiliations and the direction that college football is going, I am glad we are positioned where we are rather than being in the B12 or PAC. That has to suck. I feel somewhat bad for the old big 8 teams but then I kinda don't because they kind of let it happen.
  11. Nebraska is a brand because it's more than just winning. It's fan support and operating in the black. Nebraska does well in tv ratings (top 20). Our fans travel well and seem to pop up in good numbers at away games. They still put a lot of fans in Memorial stadium despite current W-L's. As a result we were rated in 2021 as the 20th most valuable brand. Just think how fast that will shoot up when we start winning again. Another factor that helps Nebraska is conference RPI. It's kind of like a neighborhood score. It helps to be in a P5 conference.
  12. 1) Griesel 2) Bandoumel 3) Gary 4) Keita 5) Lloyd As others have pointed out, the 5th pick is difficult. We should set this up as a select 5 poll and see how the percentages shake out. Also, my list is about the impact for the upcoming year, not career.
  13. I am going with Griesel. He's not going to light up the scoreboard but I think he will be the heartbeat of the team. He will be steady and fill the stat sheet with decent numbers in rebounds, points and assists. Not flashy numbers maybe 12 pts, 5 rb's and 4 assists. Thing is I don't see anyone that will bust out with high pt games on a consistent basis. Just a lot of guys scoring in low teens. I will be surprised if any averages 15 a game, maybe 14.? at most.
  14. For some reason I think we may be seeing a little bit of a Trev Alberts effect in the basketball program. The transfers they brought in seem like hard working team players that are well rounded. Maybe the conversation with Frost and Hoiberg was to move back from the all out scoring mentality to more of a lets be solid across all phases. Could be wrong, who knows.
  15. I think I'd go with lineup 2 with Wilhelm, Dawson, Lloyd as the top 3 rotational players. Just a swag.
  16. I am hoping this group of players are more efficient due to better shot selection and patience. I think Griesel will lead us in that direction. I like that the 2 transfers value defense and are well rounded which should hopefully help the rebounding. Looks like a more steady blue collar type of team.
  17. Welcome Mr. Bandoumel. Seems like a well rounded player. I like the pride he takes in defense.
  18. Robin Washut was on the Husker Online podcast and said Lat is going to Australia pro ball. (Not an official announcement) Sounded pretty confident. Also said (like others) that the longer it goes without an announcement from Trey the more likely he's gone. Said Gary would help fill in at the 4 spot if he came to Nebraska.
  19. I like teams that play multiple defenses. Welcome Coach Howard.
  20. Walker should be a team captain IMHO.
  21. I don't think they have a roster limit for practice. They would be limited by the number of lockers in the lockerroom. For games they can only dress 15. Below is some research I did last time this question came up. Total number of players on the roster is the first number. 2nd number is the number of rosters of that roster size. I identified the year for the extreme cases. So the first line is a 12 player roster and we only had 1 roster of that size. 12 - 1 (2006) 13 - 0 14 - 2 15 - 6 16 - 5 17 - 4 18 - 1 (2010) 19 - 1 (2007) 20 - 1 (2008) 15 is probably the sweet spot because that's how many you can dress for a game. If you have more than those guys are definitely in street clothes (redshirt status). (13 scholarships & rest walkon's) I know one year under Doc there were guys that were filling out the practice squad that weren't on the roster. That probably was 2006 & Doc's first year. I also remember him commenting about the roster being a little too big which was probably when they had 20 in 2008. It appears 15-17 players is the most common range.
  22. It seems the 4 spot is a pick your poison choice; to summarize the 4 spot. Wilcher is the best choice offensively but as someone pointed out he is not a good rebounder or defensive player. Keon gives you a little better defense and rebounding but is a streaky shooter and tends to disappear. Wil is gambling too much on D and gets in foul trouble. Lat is a compromise for all these things but as folks can see the ball handling is scary. Sighhh. It was frustrating to see #20 shooting lights out with no one around him although the first one was so deep it was totally unexpected. Still I thought we needed to adjust to him after the 2nd make. We would of been better off with less switching and help defense.
  23. FYI - Hoiberg said after the signing that Keita was in a walking boot and would miss 2 more weeks.
