Regarding the "butts in the seats" number, the attendance everywhere is down. I watch a lot of college hoops and you see the empty seats everywhere, and Covid is to blame. Lot of oldtimers with season tickets aren't going, and a lot of corporate seats aren't being filled. And a lot of people won't go if there's a mask restriction. I've seen plenty of empty seats for Kentucky, which like us has seats in their school color to hide that there's no one there.

I'm not saying attendance isn't bad here, but that should have been acknowledged in the Shatel's column.

He did mention covid and it was impressive that many fans show up for a team this bad.

We're all frustrated.  I don't blame callers for being upset and asking direct questions.  But I do think it's ludicrous to ask someone a "man to man" question when the questioner has the benefit of anonymity and the answerer is a public figure being recorded.   The only way that call could have been more cringey, is if he offered to step outside with Fred to handle business as men.  Sheesh.

There can't be that many Eric's in Cozad!

I'd be curious to know what the second highest dollars-paid-per-win is in college basketball history.

Someone want to help me out with the math? If we lose out (definite possibility) and Hoiberg gets canned with the full buyout (also a possibility), then we divide the total amount of compensation by 20 wins to figure out how much he will have been paid per win.

So, what's he been getting per year since he's been here? I think it's $4 million/year now. How long has he been at that level and what was he at before?

$18.5 mil plus $4 mill is $22.5 mil. That means this team could win 2 more games and we wouldn't even have to count his pay for his first two seasons and he'd still have more than a million per win. When you add up all his compensation, though, I'm guessing he's going to be way north of a million per win.

Has any other coach in the history of sports EVER been paid a million per win?

Ever? I can't fathom it, but maybe there's an NFL guy who was paid $5 mil and won 4 games, I don't know. I guarantee it's never happened in basketball.

$18.5 mil plus $3.5 mil (last season?) is $22 mil. That means this team would win 2 more games and we wouldn't even have to count his first two seasons and he'd still have a million per win. When you add up all his compensation, though, I'm guessing he's going to be way north of a million per win.

Prohm got $1.2 mil per win at ISU last year. Definitely got more value through his entire contract though.

Prohm won 97 games while at ISU. I think it's a safe bet his total pay-per-win figure will be way less than a million per.

OMG. What an ignominious distinction.

Perhaps no more than a handful of coaches have ever failed this magnificently and two of them are ours. Currently.

Since we're on the topic... Adolph Lewandowski didn't quite make the cut this time around either.

Worst Winning Percentage:

1. Alonzo Edwin Branch (17%)

2. Adolph J. Lewandowski (25%)

3. Bernie Masterson (28%)

4. Glenn Presnell (30%)

5. Bill Jennings (31%)

6. George Clark (32%)

7. Scott Frost (34%)

Worst Conference Winning Percentage:

1. Bill Jennings (25%)

2. Scott Frost (29%)

3. George Clark (36%)

4. Adolph J. Lewandowski (40%)

5. Mike Riley (46%)

6. Bill Callahan (47%)

7. Bernie Masterson (50%)

Yeah but we have the best practices so they get an asterisk next to those terrible records

Just in case the Lewandowski family is on the board and is mad about the bashing, I'll remind everybody that Adolph coached during World War II, with 4-Fs on his roster instead of 4-stars.

Yeah, but the opposing coaches coached with a depleted talent pool due to WWII also.

The AD's mercenary I see. Live photo of Eric From Cozad meeting with Alberts.

Did anyone hear this call on 1620 the Zone? Eric in Cozad says that after he told Hoiberg "unfortunately I'm going to have to terminate your employment" (wtf?), the Sports Nightly producer cut him off the air and told him right back "I'm going to have to terminate your employment" LOL.

NU didn't have a military training program (flight schools, etc.) or use military recruits from nearby bases. Others did, like  Iowa State, which had good teams during the war years.

If the war had lasted 60 years longer, Iowa Pre-Flight Academy would have 10 national titles in football right now.  As it stands, they remain the greatest program in the history of the state of Iowa.  (For instance, they had more 10 win seasons in their 3 years of existence than Iowa State does in 130.)

Lee & I studied under the same Journalism Teacher & he’s one of my All-time favorite sports writers regardless of where he’s from. I can’t recall specifically how that Nee era ended, I do know after that Colorado win everyone KNEW he was gone. These next few weeks won’t be pretty. Hopefully it won’t digress to the level of this call if you’ll remember. Someone called into KLIN before there was a “delay” & asked Bob Kerrey if he & Debra Winger were currently Butt Fu**ing…

The first time I saw this I was uncontrollably laughing so hard that tears where running down face.

If Trev is a creature of habit, I have to think we'll have an idea on what the Fred situation will look like either right before the season ends or right after. He extended/cut Frosts pay right before the Wisconsin week, with two weeks left in the season. Basketball is a bit different, but he'll get in front of this quick, if he hasn't already.

Regardless, we should have an answer on this semi soon.

Good luck to you all debating who and what should happen.  After 28 years Im officially done watching.  I'll try to tune back in next year maybe.  I cant believe its this bad.  The worst coaching, not just this year, but 3 years straight.  Absolute joke.
