Instead of Copeland blowing out the knee it was JPJ?

Do we weather the storm better?

Also how are we if Harris is health all year?

I'll hang up and read.?

All this talk with storms and weather has me feeling like another huge snowstorm is about to hit this weekend. Thanks a ton, sliver; I'll hang up now & dream of spring... ?

Husker fans are quick to “eat their own young.” It was only last year that JPJ was first team All-Conference and our love affair was in full bloom. His numbers are down now and it’s become fashionable to dog him, and to a degree I get that. I would agree Cope was our most “consistent” player but speculating one way or the other on how this season shook out is a maddening exercise.

We likely have atleast two more win if any starter other than Copeland got hurt. If it was jpj who in fact got hurt I think we are actually pushing 20 wins based on the fact the Allen and Watson woulda had the ball in their hands more and we would of still had what was proceived to be our biggest strength going into the year(roby, cope) still in the front court.

Absolutely think Copeland is/was more important to this team than JPJ

The way Watson was playing... during that stretch.... yowza.

Honestly? I think the results would have been similar.  We had very little margin for error with our lack of depth.  We needed those starters to be healthy all year long.  Most years they are.  Doesn't often happen that we lose a key contributor to a season-ending injury.  A few years back,  we lost Anton Gill, but his productivity prior to being hurt was already limited and so it didn't have much of an effect.  This was not the year we could afford to have that happen.  Although, we could probably have absorbed losing JPJ slightly better than losing Cope just because we had more depth in the backcourt.

Yeah, that's how I see it. Cope was clearly playing the best this year. And it wasn't particularly close. I think JPJ has been dealing with an injured thumb, but still, his season-long 36.3% shooting is atrocious.

I would have loved to have seen a completely healthy Husker roster (and Jack Riggins or whoever else to work with them) for this season.

I was one of the guys who thought Karrington Davis would be able to contribute.  Would have loved to have seen the benefit of the added depth that a healthy Karrington Davis would have added to this squad.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

We're finally in a position to do some damage and crap like this happens.  Just feel snakebit.

What if the Germans had won World War One, and forced all of Europe to play basketball starting in 1920 and then exiled them all to Nebraska? Think of how different this season would've been.

Yeah, that whole situation was ridiculous. The volleyball team did it, they seem to be doing all right with "outside" influences.

If you tell this story that Miles needs this guy, the typical reaction is 'he's the coach, he should be able to hand it'

You add on that John Cook was doing the same thing and then it's like 'Oh, it's probably ok then'

If Scott Frost came in and wanted this guy is there any doubt that it happens.

In some regards Miles is the guy who has to go because he is in such an untenable position.  This is also the argument for why you can't bring in a mid-major/assistant because 'this is how we do it at Nebraska' is going to rear it's head and it's some of our problem.

If Jack Riggins is the difference between being top 25 and completely melting down half way through the season and likely being bottom 3 in the conf....then my What If, is: What if Coach Miles put Jack Riggins on staff this offseason instead of Coach Gates - because if he is that valuable, then he totally should of.

The truth is even Navy Seal Jack Riggins wasn't going to stop this ship from sinking. If coach Frost is in year 7 and we're coming off 1 bowl game in 6 years, and we're sitting at 3-8 (1-7), I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the fan base won't be out there grumbling about weather coach Frost had enough outside help to be sucsessful. Let's be honest, guys like Mr. Riggins are helpful, and probably a nice resource - but their lack of presence shouldn't crumble a team.

I don't disagree with this statement; I bring it up because I'm talking about changing how we handle things in the future here based on what we've seen in the past and changing the coach isn't the only thing.

I also would like to hear the other side of the story. All we have is one side of it, and it's Jack on twitter shouting from the moutain top, that Miles doesn't have the recources he needs because the AD won't give it to him.

If Scott Frost needs a bowl of exactly 500 red M&Ms before each football game does he or does he not get that?

Are the M&Ms overly vocal on twitter questioning the ADs ability to do their job? It's just not as cut and dry as that, I don't think. I mean it could be, and I would be wrong, but we're still only hearing one side of it.
