Beyond annoying.

I love Forbes at Wake - so I get it. Just think he could accomplish a lot here and leave a lifelong local legacy that pays off for years if he has success here. Don't get that by having a nice couple years at Wake.

HS isn't, by any means, a massive miss - I think we'll be ok and figure something out. But this does sting a bit.

It sucks to lose out on a local kid who has all the talent in the world. But also at the end of the day, you want kids to be here who want to be here. If he doesn't want to be here, then it's time for us to find someone who does.

Awesome. Well onto the next one.

Portal closes may 11th so there could still be more entries between now and then. Vabdy PG for example was a late addition to the portal and he's a good player.

To me this one does sting.  He's local, he's got 5* potential, he was a proven rotation piece on an NCAA title contender, and his desired role seems to dovetail with what we most need (primary ballhandler and offense initiator).  If he was looking to purely increase his shot attempts per game then I would have zero issues with a swing and a miss here, despite all the other considerations.  But Sallis was admittedly at the top of my personal wish list given who we already have on the roster, so I am very bummed.

I love Sallis as a defender and transition player, but the other true transfers we have so far are better basketball players at this point.  Sallis may never pan out as an offensive threat because of his shooting.  The kid is a 25% threat from 3 with a 1:1 a:to ratio.

Going through the stages of grief much faster on the 2nd time around. See you again in 2025?

I was thinking the same thing!

I know we're in the discounting the player process of the recruiting grieving stage - but Sallis is kinda the perfect PG for Hoiberg and the team we have right now. This does sting. I think he has Verge/Mack ability in transition, but is a significantly better athlete and defender. And then I think he's highly, highly, unselfish in the half-court.

There have been some "insider" posts on the Husker Online and 24/7 boards. But not from anyone I know personally or trust. I feel (from lurking for quite a while) that the people who post inside info on this board (other than Robin Washut, who does a great job) seem to have more accurate information. So I usually take info on here a little more seriously than rando-posts on the other boards.

Welcome, you obviously have good taste

I really hate it when you post my own analysis but using much better words.  Seems like we are often on the same wave length when it comes to evaluating player fit.

I don’t think he is anywhere near Verge offensively (once he bought in) or Mack as a passer.  There’s nothing about his game or numbers to this point that points to either of those guys.  The perfect PG for Fred will still be able to shoot.  Sam wasn’t an elite shooter, but he was a threat and hit some big shots.

But I’m a defense first person anyway.  I definitely wanted Sallis here and am disappointed we didn’t get him.  You always find room for kids that athletic and that kind of ceiling.  I just don’t think this is a Keyontae situation.  Not even on the same planet of tragic.

i think sallis is closer to bandoumel than he is to verge/mack
