We did compete with a short handed squad. Penn St is a solid team at home. Our lack of offensive playmakers is the main liability. We are getting the most we can out of our players. Wins are tough to achieve.

We’re well coached. We only have a punchers chance with our two best defenders out with injuries. I was impressed they kept it close, but damn… how depleted can you get? Those early games Walker missed are killing us now.

worst part is Sam completely telegraphed the pass by staring at Walker for about 10 seconds before lazily passing the ball all of about 3 feet. So unnecessary

They played about as good as I thought they could have on defense, but didn't score enough. Not really upset -Lawrence and Dawson both looked like freshman today, which I should've expected. 8 missed Ft's between the 2 of them. Split those and you have a different game. Both will learn from this, as I did like Lawrence's pressure on the rim and handling on the perimeter. Defenders tested his handle a bit with reaches and he didn't lose it. Just have to finish possessions with FT makes. Dawson wasn't really aggressive attacking the rim, which is needed sometimes. -If Bando is out an extended period, I think they'll re-inset CJ to the starting lineup, or WIlhelm. Lawrence will act as the backup lead guard to spell Sam. Wouldn't be upset if he starts to attempt to replicate Bando's defense. -Overall team doesn't quit despite being outgunned today. Pickett is a borderline All american and Funk is a 5 year college shooter, both of which showed today. Great effort, had chances to win though. NW next tuesday (or Wednesday depending on what happens with their in house COVID issues). Defend PBA and get back above .500, which I expect.

Lost Bando, that hurts. Especially with leadership, grit and defense...but... Missed free throws, missed lay ups, missed open looks, and some unforced errors are hard to overcome.

Penn St has made some good adjustments on offense. They are finding scoring opportunities in the lane. Need to adjust defensively and of course make some shots while valuing each possession.

Sam has at least one lazy pass to Walker per game that gets picked. Two already today. It should start pissing Fred off. Considering how we turn it over so much and don't have a single consistent three point shooter, it's amazing how we stay in games against good teams. Our team defense is elite. Doesn't matter who we have on the court.

Oh man.. .those were ugly ft.

Quick thought: This team is 10x more fun to watch than any previous FH team. We bring our own energy and you don't feel like your team is going to quit on you if some shots don't fall. You always have hope during the games. People that cancelled their season tickets have to be kicking themselves.

I think our season just crumbled like Brando’s knee. I am sorry sad for this team and these kids. Non contact knees injuries are usually not good news. that’s how I blew both of mine.

You know it is really nice to be able to watch every game played by ever team… but that be said that means the announcers are getting worse and worse. The color guy just says before the break watch out Penn State is for real, they are have trouble at home beating a .500 team that has two starts out, and only are up 5. I miss the guy who just tells us what they really see and not all the other added stuff.

Cip: I don’t know if you listen to podcasts, but I have been loving one called “A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs.” Andrew Hickey tells some incredible stories. He’s on about song 170 now.

Was really disappointed to see Keisei miss that free throw. Had hopes he would get through the whole year without any misses. Not 100% sure but I watched a little bit of the game off my DVR later and I think the announcers said the kid from Ohio State had not missed any all year either - until he missed one early in our game - and then both off the technical.

He is typically out on the court with Rameal (and now Juwan) during pregame. I see no brace and he appears to be moving around freely...typically with a smile on his face. The dude has been here two years. He will basically be a 20 year old freshman. As an aside, don't go to sleep on Jacobson either. He could sneak into the mix as well.

I'm really torn between knowing any other coach would have been fired by now or would at the very least be getting ready to list his house on the one hand, and just being tired of coaching searches on the other. I watch what the team is trying to do this year and I can respect what I see on the floor. On offense and on defense, they at least have a scheme. And I think it's a scheme that would work if we just had more talented players. That's our weakness. The overall lack of talent. Particularly in terms of having at least a couple of dudes who can fill it up. So, if we somehow manage to keep the good players from this squad who have remaining eligibility, keep our November signee, and somehow hit paydirt in the portal this spring ... It's at least worth seeing whether Fred still has a shot at turning this around.
