  1. In case any of you fans are wondering, Nebraska has never won a conference game on the road by 30 or more points. Not even in the Mo Valley.

  8. Ok so we have lost 5 games so far this season. All have been to teams rated in one of the two polls. Four of the five losses have been on the road where young teams usually struggle. We have injuries but so do others. We could've/should've won two of them. I think a convincing home win against Ill is what we need to settle everybody down. Lose that one and we will be out of excuses. Go Big Red!!

  9. Nice win, necessary win, a must win against a bad team. We needed to go out and manhandle them, and we did.

  19. Should not have to "find a way to win" We need to go out and aggressively win this game.

  20. That's gonna happen when your opponent put a team on the floor where no one is taller than 6' 3". Vs. Rutgers, we look huge. Not sure I'd reecommend making a rebounding judgment off a performance vs. the Scarlet Knights.

  21. Don't settle. Please blow this awful team out. Also, Ed Morrow was solid--very active beyond 6pts, 2rb.

  22. Wow is Andrew putting on a show. I think that Rutgers might be the worse team I have seen us play this year. But they are missing some of their key players. And I was going to say Nick free throw was kind of bad until that kid from Rutgers just shot that one

  28. I still think it would help if Jess would take a few 10 foot shots. She's perfectly capable of knocking down some 3s as well. Due to the conditioning she missed out on this year, I suspect she will take a big leap between freshman and sophomore years for the Huskers.

  29. RB43 makes the baskets she is supposed to make. I don't think I've seen her miss a bunny yet (maybe she has, but I can't think of one off the top of my head). She doesn't hesitate to shoot. I remember Sample would sometimes aggravate me by not taking a wide open shot in the lane, or completely missing a bunny, but her defense was stellar. I think RB43 is solid on offense and doesn't need to be a 15 point per game player. Her defense may not be as good as Sample, not yet anyway, but as she continues to develop her defense will be even stronger. Her motor is unmatched on the court right now.

  30. I was at that game Thursday night. It was difficult to watch. I thought Maddie played well. If Nebraska's answer to its problems is great shooters... 43 isn't a part of your team. Unfortunately, she's not a "great shooter." Maybe she will become one. She is not a horrible shooter, but certainly not great. Her knee is giving her problems. It hurts, but she's gutting it out as much as she can. Dad speaking here... You won't find a tougher kid on that squad. You'll find more skilled kids. Which is more important... being able to play offense or defense??? It has parallels to the chicken or the egg argument. It seems you need both. Maryland's Malina Howard was 7-7 from the field. At least twice she was wide open around the foul line and hit the shot. I'm sitting there saying to myself... How is she that open? How can the defense allow her to be that open? Maryland looked like they were channeling Steph Curry. Shooting is a function of skill. Playing good defense takes heart, hustle, a willingness to mix it up. It's hard to teach "heart." I'm betting Gino does it by telling his great shooters... I have 3 others who can shoot as well as you... You either play tough defense or you'll watch the game from a chair on the side. Bill Self does that. When you have UConn/KU Men's depth you have that option. Whatever it is the Huskers need to figure it out quickly.

  32. Sneaky, jimmy. So, you're figuring that Collins could leave Northwestern either by choice (a better gig) or by being shown the door, whereas you are thinking Miles isn't as well-positioned at this point to receive better offers? And hence his only method of departure at this point looks like dismissal? Good way of hedging your bet.

  34. I woke up this morning and my knee and back ached. But then they always do. I consider this our first "must" game of the year since it is all that stands between us and the crapper. The team needs this to get some psychological momentum for the next couple of games. If we lose to Rutgers, the coaching staff needs to apportion minutes differently with more emphasis on building experience minutes for next year than making anything out of this one. Kind of a downbeat post , but I forgot to mention my aching shoulder. That's what I get for shoveling snow yesterday after the wet snow clogged the snowblower.

  35. Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-8) vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-10) Date: Saturday, Jan 9th, 2016 Time: 4:00 p.m. CST Arena: Louis Brown Center Capacity: 8000 Broadcast Information Television: ESPNU Online: WatchESPN Announcers: Clay Matvick and Sean Harrington Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Matt Davison Rutgers Info Head Coach: Eddie Jordan Location: New Brunswick, NJ Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Scarlet Knights Mascot:Scarlet Knight Last time out: Lost to Maryland Typical Rotation Depth: 8 players Tempo: Middle of the road Offensive Style: Princeton Defensive Style: Soft in the middle Opening Line: Huskers by 2 Miles Post Practice presser White and Parker Practice Presser Player to Watch Corey Sanders: Much like Glynn Watson, Sanders is a 4 star freshman who is Rutgers first highly touted PG in a while though he's been coming off the bench the last two games after starting most of the year. Sanders leads the team in 3s and is a roller coaster like most touted freshmen. The Skinny Rutgers wasn't all that highly regarded coming into the season and with a few key injuries they're currently regarded as the worst Power 5 Conference team in the land. After last year's inconceivable upset of Wisconsin, the Scarlet Knights haven't won a conference game and like Nebraska is currently 0-3. With neither team winning in conference since last February, both teams probably view this game as a great chance to get back on track. Thanks to its uptempo transition pace and Princeton-esque offense, Rutgers leads the league with nearly 46% of its shots coming from the paint. Packing the lane against cutters will be key on defense. Rutgers hasn't been a terrible shooting 3pt team, especially in conference, so it will be tempting to help against the team that shoots the least number of 3s in the B1G. Rutgers doesn't draw much contact on offense though the Huskers can't help but put their opponents on the line. If you're going to foul anyone, make sure it's the two post players who barely shoot 50%. Nebraska takes less than 25% of their shots from the paint which makes sense because the post game offense has been mostly non-existent this year. Of course this is Rutgers' weakness so we either need to start feeding the post or more probably have Shavon and Tai attack the rim...I think this is a game where Shavon goes for 20+ points. Once again there will be offensive rebounding opportunities against a poor rebounding Scarlet Knight squad. Here is the thing about Rutgers though...they haven't played someone as middling as this year's Husker squad as none of their opponents have been ranked between 100-199 via KenPom so we don't really know how bad-bad they are. Given that they'll be playing at home, it's a game that Nebraska could and should win but it will require them to sweep the leg when they have the chance. 38. Yes, yes I will. It will make an even greater human interest story in the national media for us when we finally win a game if we are the only one left. Might mean an ESPN special. Think of the publicity for the program. Just call me the spinmaster.

  39. I have also felt like there has been some selfish play. Several times in the past few games we have had someone open on the arc and instead of passing to them, we try to drive or toss up a somewhat wild shot. I've seen Maddie, Kyndal, Emily, and Natalie open. Jazz was open once or twice last night, too. Thought Jazz and Maddie played well. It was good to see. Just seemed like they were getting after it a bit better last night.

  40. I just don't like our body language as a team right now. If we can hit shots that will make a big difference but I thought there was a lot of selfish play last night. No one wanted to make an extra pass and we didn't rebound anything. Is it time to shake up the lineup?

I agree that Tai should be playing more PG. He and Watson are a much better duo than Benny and Watson. Tai is one of, if not our best, slashers. I wish he would shoot more, and with confidence and in rhythm. He has a nice looking shot.

I'd prefer a Derrick Chandler or a Kamani Ffriend in the post as a defensive stalwart..
