Or went 5-8 against teams with better conference records, but just 2-5 against the teams tied/below us.

5-7 against conference teams projected to makes ncaas, 2-6 against the non qualifiers.

Just go 500 against the non tourney teams and were probably in.

Not just that, but four of the losses (Iowa, Rutgers, USC, Minn) were to lower conference teams. We didn’t lose to the cream of the crop at home.

Damn... That's the season right there.

Connor is fine as an 8th or 9th man. That’s it.

Keisei Tominaga Junior Year - 13.1 ppg/1.6 reb/0.7 assists (66 total makes from 3 @ 40% clip)

Connor Essegian Junior Year - 10.7 ppg/2.8 reb/1.1 assists (70 total makes from 3 @ 39% clip)

I think we have collectively been too hard on Connor this year.  Yes, it's frustrating when he's not making shots as that is his role but he did pretty much what Keisei did his junior year, minus some of the charisma.

He's already better than an 8th/9th man and hopefully with a good offseason he makes another jump.

He's talented enough that if Mast is feeding him for easy buckets you could run the entire offense around him like you did with Keisei.

Losing at home is the worst.  To get to the NCAA's all we have to do is win at home and we couldn't do that this year.  I don't mind a loss against a top team; plus hopefully you can steal some on the road.  Just pathetic to lose at home and to the teams we have to beat.  IDK what we do going forward.

It just felt like we couldn't string together that defense-fueled 10+ to 0 run at home once the home winning streak ended vs Rutgers. Last year, we lived on those big runs at home. Couldn't get enough stops in most B1G games at home to put together a big run ... other than against Michigan, but we couldn't score to put together a run that night.

We did it on the road a few times, but struggled with it at home over the last several games.

This and Mast returning are 2 of the most significant factors that will determine if next season is a success or not in my opinion.

I think Brice was physically & mentally exhausted. He's put everything into that OSU game & fell flat today. Sucks to see his home B1G career end in such a deflating fashion.

Did Fred say in the postgame press conference that we made about 100 fewer 3s as a team this year?  If so, that's probably why we felt like Conor wasn't living up to his billing.  Instead it's because we missed CJ, Reinke and even Jamarques as complementary threats. I think Brice and Sam made a similar number of 3s as last year and Juwan made a reasonable number more.

That's accurate as we shot less and made them at less of a percentage.

Seems like we're on a collision course to overcompensate on recruiting shooters and hopefully that sort of team will work

I hesitate to say this out loud, but if I had to make a too early portal wish list, Josh Dix would be near the top. Sounds like Fran is out and Dix is from Council Bluffs. 43% from three, never turns the ball over, can be a primary ball handler and create for others. I'm sure he'll end up at Creighton and we'll see him again next year.

It would be nice to recruit Iowa transfer portal guys who can shoot
