Couldn't agree more. It's incredibly difficult to get the teams slotted initially. Then you have to slot the protected teams. Then you have to avoid rematches and separate conference opponents. By that time, there's no wiggle room for "hey, let's screw this team, or hey, would it be a great story if ..."

That being said, I think the Alabama AD is going to screw us for the '77 win over Bear Bryant.

Yeah, I do not believe there is any ulterior motive or bias against Nebraska in the room.  Probably the opposite given our lack of history and feel good story.  The year we were sent on the road in the NIT, I thought we were a long ways away from making the tournament based off our resume so concocting a conspiracy theory for why we ended up 5 seed in the NIT versus a 3 or 4 seed seems a little silly.

I want out of that 8-9 game. would rather be a 10 seed. Would getting to the finals of the BIG Tourney move us up to a 7?

What if ...

In that case most likely Nebraska is 24-10, I’d say 6-7 seed for sure. Win the whole thing 5-6 due to probably 2-3 more quad 1 wins imo.

i would think beating mich plus winning the BTT would get us as high as a 3 seed. especially if the opponents are wisconsin/illinois/purdue

I think winning the Tournament should give us that, but in reality we'd be a 6 at best

last year indiana got a 4 seed at 22-10 and lost in the semis of the BTT. 🤷‍♂️

100% agree. Much rather be a 10 seed than a 9 or 8.

Not sure if it's still the case, but once upon a time I saw a stat that indicated upsets in the 7/10 contests were more common than in the 8/9 games. And you win that game and you're moving on to face the 2/15 winner rather than the 1/16 winner. Which isn't a huge difference but it is some difference.

I don't think so.  Alabama forgot about that game when they completely stifled the Huskers the next season.  They were laughing in our faces at the end of that season, when, after finally beating Oklahoma, Tom told the press, when asked about Bryant not facing us in Orange Bowl, "tell that son of a buck not to dodge us."  Too bad we still had that Missouri game left....

Beat Michigan and win 1 in Minny and I’d be pretty confident in a 7 seed scenario.  Those KPI and SOR numbers are already top 30 with KPI nearing Top 25.  Predictive metrics, I think, would near the Top 30 as well with those two wins.

I think so, too. These bracketologists seem affected by prestige and pedigree over the years & years of data. This particular NU team is a damn solid team in metrics. I contend they can play with and beat anyone out there, same could be said for losing to any team since we kind of live and die by the three-ball.

I don't think that teams get moved up and down due to matchups....it's more about if there is some logistical issue or if you want to avoid a conference members playing each other early on. I do not actually believe that the Iowa St athletic director nor the Butler athletic director have some sort of personal agenda involving Butler.

I wasn't floating some conspiracy theory but rather asking a general question about the committee favoring certain matchups or potential matchups of interest. I honestly didn't know if there is any history of the committee doing this.

I don't believe that either Pollard or Collier have any animus towards Nebraska. When it comes to Barry Collier I know that he has been to many of our games over the years and appears to have a soft spot for our program. He's one of the good guys and extremely high character.

I have no idea what you are talking about involving a personal agenda with Butler.

Collier or Pollard can't even be in the room when the Selection Committee discusses their respective teams.

I think that he misspoke and meant Nebraska instead of Butler... just from looking at it, fyi.

Wish I could find it, but one of the top bracketologists  mentioned that this year is particularly difficult because of the bunching of Big 12 teams in the 2-4 range, Big Ten teams in the 7-10 range and Big East teams on the bubble. Avoiding conference matches might result in some odd slotting.

Awesome, Selection Sunday uproar guaranteed!

Great coach. Former below average Iowa guard Joe Toussaint is arguably his best player. Or Pop Isaacs, who is like sophomore Tai Webster if you gave him senior Tai Webster's role. Very high volume and incredibly inefficient. They are not enjoyable to watch.

and our loss would most likely be to Purdue in this case.

It's likely our first game at the tourney would be Michigan St or Wisconsin which would be a Quad 1 win opportunity.  Almost any other team would be a quad 2.   I think we'd be pushing it for a 7 seed but sure could be possible.
