uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 18 - Rutgers

Seems like a rule, that even if you get out of Piscataway with a win, they'll beat you up and you'll escape with a pyrrhic victory. You'll probably lose a guy along the way. Brutal. And every time nebraska goes there, it's the same story, same way we lose - - getting out rebounded, out hustled, and usually they play more disciplined overall and embarrass us. Doesn't matter what lead you have, they usually come back.

We are firmly on the outside looking in right now.  We've got to find a way to win these next two at home because I don't know how many we'll end up getting on the road.

Losing Gary for an extended period of time might be a nail in the coffin type of scenario for this team.

We're two 10+ point leads on the road ending in losses from 15-3 and projecting as a Top 7 seed.  Unfortunate... but good teams win the close games.

I honestly could see the train derailing a little bit here.  We haven't faced multiple losses in a row this entire year and... as we just witnessed... don't deal with adversity very well.

There’s adversity, and there’s losing one of your top guys in a horrible freak accident injury….

Ive never seen Fred look like that after it.

At the end of the day this was a big ten road loss. That happens. Even Wisconsin lost last night.

While true-- lost a Big 10 game on the road isn't the end of the world... we've lost ALL of them so far.

In the 4 Big 10 road losses we've gotten blown out twice and lost two where we've held a double digit lead.  We've squandered so many opportunities on the road already and our road games are only going to get harder as we move forward.

This is nearly always a discussion point by pundits every single March. Will the committee feel the same? Depends on the direction of the wind. But it's not a strong selling point for any team that late in the season.

Our lack of athleticism position by position is showing. No PG, no backup PG. Brice Williams ends up having to facilitate things and that's not where he thrives. Our rebounding has STRUGGLED of late even with Gary, but without him we almost have to play even smaller because Allick brings no offense in general and that compounds the rebounding issue. Too early to bail on the season but this feels like a real emotional breaking point giving up another 10+ point lead in the second half AND losing Gary.
