I thought there was a few ticky tack calls against us...and honestly, we played well but probably not our best and still came out with a win. Can't wait for Thursday...let's get the PBA going.

IMO they were ticky tack both ways. I don't think it really worked much against us. May have even helped by keeping MD from getting into any kind of rhythm offensively.

I'm just thinking of a list of people I want to tell to just STFU and never offer another opinion about Nebraska basketball ever again.

And if I ever hear anyone make another snarky remark about our head coach tweeting at halftime, I'm likely to punch them in the mouth.

Just sayin.

You appear to be channeling William F. Buckley speaking to Gore Vidal. I like it!

The curse of the black jerseys is finally broken! MJ probably played his best game of the year today. Tai and Glynn did Tai and Glynn stuff and everyone can sleep easy. I love it love it love it. I was rattled at the fact it looked like we were about to let another white dude from Maryland torch us by himself (see Jake Layman last year). But that was a damn good win. Happy for the whole entire program. Just Maryland's second conference loss at home since they joined the league. BIG TIME W. GBR.

Makes me think of us coming back against USC in the Sadler Era at home. However the majority of that comeback came in the early 2nd half, not the end.

This was a historic day.

The last time Nebraska was 2-0 in the conference - 2006.  Barry's last season.

The last time Nebraska started the conference season with two road wins - 1943.

Beating Kansas St and Missouri.  AJ Lewandowski was the coach.

How does this look?

Crazy that there's only 3 unbeatens left after less than a week of play ... and 2 of them were a combined 14-11 in non-con play. I guess challenging yourself in the non-con is the way to go.

I thought it was 79-80?

Now I see the 1979-80 stat is a different one. That was merely winning first two roadies, I believe.

Do they need to be consecutive games?

We did start 79-80 with wins at Iowa St and Colorado.

Inbetween those two games were a loss at home to Missouri and a win at home over Kansas

I was told the 79-80 year was the last time we won first two in conference and both were on the road.

As you pointed out (and as I double checked as you were posting), that was incorrect.

Up vote for using "kit" in lieu of "jersey."

Basketball isn't soccer. But while we're at it, what's with Michigan's kits? Or at least the ones they wore today against Iowa. The tops had a wrestling singlet look to them. Seems like things are rolling back a few years especially with some of the shorter shorts some are wearing.

It's not always pretty, but I love seeing the team play so aggressively on offense instead of draining the clock and forcing tough shots late in the clock.

What an incredible couple of games.

This.  Miles has been pretty open about his fondness of the Izzo philosophy.  Outside of TM, Izzo is my favorite D1 coach.  The schedule has paid huge dividends.  It's also wild that MSU lost to Northeastern.  Pretty parallel seasons going on there so far.

Was trying to come up with another game NU has played with a huge 10-0 or more run this late to flip the outcome, couldn't come up with one. I mean nearly every possession on both ends over the last 5-6 minutes went our way today. That's unreal.

Similar games that we won that I could think of:

  • NU had that huge comeback at Devaney against Iowa in Miles' first season, down by 15 or so at halftime, but I think we cut the lead much earlier than we did today. Talley hit the big jumper late I believe. (Also last time we beat the Herkies I think.)
  • NU had a big comeback vs Indiana in the first season in the B1G at home under Doc. Seems like that one started pretty late like today, maybe 8 or 9 minutes to go, but I'm sure Indiana scored a few times in there.
  • NU had a big run in the win at MSU last season, seems like it was more than 10-0 midway thru second half, but not late like today.
  • NU finished the game with a nice run in the win at MSU in 13/14, but I think it was more like 11-2, 12-2, something like that. Probably the closest one to what we did today, although that run blew the game open, wasn't a rally from a big deficit.

And on the flip side we had that loss to TAM at Devaney under Doc in 08/09, blew a huge early second half lead, but seems like the Ags closed the deficit much earlier than we did today.

We did nearly do the same thing to the Terps last season at the B1G tourney, weren't we down 20+ in that game midway in the 2nd half and got it to 6 and forced a miss before a horrible call cost us possession with 90 sec or so to go?

Anyone remember one we won quite like this previously? I'm probably missing an obvious one.

I remember a game against Missouri in 1988 ( I think, pretty sure I was in 7th grade) where we were down 17 with a little over 3 minutes to play and we came back to beat them. I'm not sure if it went to overtime or not.  I had to leave early to play in a game of my own.

No idea if my team won or lost though.

On a different note I thought the announcers were really good. They must have watched a lot of film because they seemed to have an accurate profile on everyone on the team. I also thought the refs were as good as they could be. IMO there were no terrible calls against either team. Just some support for the people I'm normally hating on.

I also think at least from the standpoint of fans showing up this is possibly the best possible date/time you could choose. I mean it's early on a day that everyone wants to sleep in on. It's a Sunday and the final week of the NFL regular season on top of being a holiday and students not being on campus.

I also thought the refs were very consistant. Disagree a little on the announcers, though. I remember the announcers ignoring when Webster picked up his 3rd and 4th fouls. I kept waiting for the announcers to confirm who the fouls were on and what # of fouls Tai had.
