I would disagree with the notion that the gap is widening. I think the gap is closer than it's been in a while, at least since Dougie was on campus. The problem is that both programs have improved and CU's improvement has put them into the top 15. NU's just put themselves in the middle (I think) of the Big Ten. The talent gap isn't as wide as it's been, though. For NU to have won as infrequently as they have is inexcusable.

I agree with nustudent that CU is loaded with talent and might be the best and most complete team CU has ever put together.  They can beat you in so many ways and are doing it with a couple of local kids getting a ton of minutes.  That is one frustration with NU is they don't recruit Omaha kids like Thomas and Patton.  Both are solid players.  I don't expect NU to beat CU this year but I hope like hell it happens.  They are clearly a better team but it would be pretty painful for the NU fan base and Miles personally to take a beating from them again.  And if I had to predict right now, I'd bet we lose by 20+ points.  I sure our staff and players prove me wrong.

Watched Creighton play Ole Miss last night. It looks like they'll be without one of their big men now when they play us. Still...they have height in Patton and a couple other guys off the bench. Looked like Ole Miss really bothered Maurice Watson with their 1-3-1 especially early. I wonder if Miles will try that. We'll need to crash the boards hard since Creighton isn't a great rebounding team. Given the fact we'll have to have one of our best shooting nights of the season, I think we can make it a game at home. I just don't think Miles job depends on it like this thread is pointing out.

We have a complete roster of talented, high-character kids who get along well.  That's going to make us a tough out for anyone who plays us.  Unfortunately, we are also very young, so we're likely to lay a few eggs here and there.

That said, I don't see anyone on our schedule who will blow us out.  Beat us by 10-12?  Sure, but I suspect we're going to start learning how important it is to change the athleticism of the roster the way TM has when we play these top 15 teams.  When I look at CU, they are very talented, but not loaded with NBA players like KU.  They're talented like we are, but they have more experienced players.  We'll match up well.

I actually think the Dayton game coming up is the most important game of the non-con.  This is an annual tournament team that we are very capable of beating despite being an underdog.  They play with a ton of intensity that we're going to have to match.  Beat Dayton and the CU predictions will start getting a whole lot closer.

I agree, mostly because beating Dayton means playing games that will positively impact the RPI, losing it means the potential to play games, at least one, possibly two, that will hurt the RPI. I'd rather play good competition than games that will boost the win column.

Beat Dayton and lose to Creighton, minimal momentum.  Beat Creighton and lose to Dayton, we've got some in state credibility back and momentum.

No way in hell is Dayton more important than Creighton.

Haha...tough to say one loss is better than another.  Much depends on the dance judges.  Is winning a home game more or less important than winning on a neutral site.  I will be honest, beating Creighton this year (on any court) will be difficult at best.  There is no way they will have a let down against us.  So I will take any win at any time against each and every team.

Taking emotion and sentiment out of the equation, there is no question that Dayton is a more important game.   Completely RPI based.   Has a trickle down effect for 3 games, not just 1.

Creighton will likely be a top 10 team when we play them.   It's a top 10 win, but just one and at home.

Dayton gives you a top 30-40 win....but a non home game which is arguably more important.   You then get UCLA and either Virginia Tech or A&M.   That's 3 straight non home games against at worst top 40 type opponents.

You lose to Dayton, you are then playing at best top 100 type opponents, likely far worse the rest of the way

I understand your point, however, you have to look bigger picture and forward movement of the program.  Miles finds a way to beat Creighton consistently and now your feeling like we're moving up, closing the gap.  Trickles down to fan base and recruiting.

We continue to be a 2nd rate program compared to Creighton and you get what we got:. 2 local kids playing in a Creighton uniform that we'd love to have right now.  Oh ya, one is 7'1'' tall.  And you lose your best player to transfer because we are not  NCAA caliber or viewed as a strong enough program for NBA talent to reach their potential status.

Those things have to change, beating Creighton is crucial to our program.

There is no way that non-Nebraska native recruits care at all about the CU/NU matchup. I remember one year that half of the team didn't even know it was a "rivalry" until the week of the game!

You must have missed the point about the 2 local kids playing quality minutes for them that we'd love to have, and the 7'1" thing.

Instead, we have zero local kids making an impact.

Not saying it wouldn't be nice to have those guys, but I could give a darn where our players are from as long as they can perform!

I am am happy with what we have right now and am looking forward to seeing them progress.  If they do what I think they can, there'll be no need for those two up north.

I hope you're right.  But show me a 7' big man that we have that would make you not want their guy over the next 4 years'

Why oh why do you keep responding to this Creighton fan?  It's what he wants.

Here you go Hoops Legend.  This will make you feel better.

Creighton is the best team in the Nation.  Hands down. No debate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the type of crap that is bad for our progress.  I simply express the reality of our need to be the dominant in state team, and now I'm a Creighton fan!

Unreal.  We really have been beaten into expecting mediocrity.

I don't know,or care, if you're a Creighton fan.  But you're a broken record.   And a huge douche.

Idiot or troll.   Trying to determine.   Undecided as of right now
