  1. so many informative, insightful, and entertaining posts here. Thanks everybody. I have only two observations to add. 1) CC's foul on Nissley happened right in front of me. After the call she did that rolling her eyes thing like "what?? me foul, I don't foul". Seldom will a ref have an easier call than that one - she so clearly swept across Nissley's arm. When I watched the reply I was glad to hear the announcers call CC out on that - commenting on how obvious it was. 2) Iowa's next to last inbound - the on which Stuelke got the easy lay up - unless the ref did not signal the ball in play for quite a while after handing it to the inbounder, that was def a five second violation. The two points that followed should never have happened.

I replayed the lack of a 5 second call several times with a stop watch. It came out to be a little over 6 seconds. In my mind it would have been a huge call on the team that was supposed to win and the ref just couldn't do it.

  3. Let's see you had a 14 point lead, the best player on the court and 3 time outs to stem the momentum tide. I really wish Coach Blubber would step up and own it. aka....." I lost this game....This loss is on me ( not the refs which favor CC badly anyway, not the media, not my women and definitely not the environment which favored me until the last 40 seconds) I lost us this game. One must wonder if McDermott will finally get his chance to move up to the big leagues and take the OSU job. Fingers crossed for him and I hope it's not too much of a distraction for him and the Jays for the rest of the season.

  7. It's hit the Big Ten already. Question now is whether Juwan Howard will still be the coach at Michigan when we play them there. I'm hoping so because an interim might get them to play more to their ability.

  8. This game is really kind of a “playing with house money” situation. Especially with the Iowa win. We got our big win and they shouldn’t feel much pressure. We’re now solidly inside the bubble. Hopefully that means they come out and just play loose. No pressure situations sometimes allow a team to just out and play, not think about things, and just have some fun. I think that’s why you see a lot of upsets in early March conference games and early rounds of conference tournaments. Most of the time, teams playing on Day 1 and Day 2 have no pressure.

  10. Oh it’s coming for her. Next year, humility will be arriving at Bluder’s door when she will be coaching without the luxury of having arguably the greatest all around basketball talent that the women’s game has ever seen. Bluder’s gotta go back to coaching regular, mortal players on her team next year. You take Clark out of that program, and they are just another good team who can be beaten on any given day.

  15. Probably a good idea by Ohio St to get a jump on some of the other potential big name job openings in the B1G alone - Michigan ? Indiana ? USC ?? Has Izzo had enough of NIL and the transfer portal at MSU ?? What about Altman at Oregon ?? With all the money B1G schools have, there are going to be quite a few coaches who are going to get big raises if a chunk of these jobs actually open. I'd expect OSU will swing for the fences and try to lure a currently employed P5 top-end coach. That'll likely be a huge contract that'll reset the market.

  18. Totally agree on both of these. I have officiated games for years, and you never get rid of that internal clock during inbounds plays. I def thought it was a 5 sec violation as well.

  22. On Sports Nightly last evening, Sharpe and Coody talked about the whole press conference thing. They made several points discrediting the bitching and whining of Blunder: - It is typical (and a courtesy of the host) for the visiting team to meet the press first (to catch plane, etc.) but they are usually expected to be at the mic 10 minutes after the final buzzer. They felt Iowa was not present maybe 20-25 minutes after the buzzer - wondering what the hell they were doing for so long if they had to catch a plane. - Nebraska players showed up at the press room between 15 and 20 minutes after the buzzer. They expected to have to wait for Iowa to finish their conference, but they were not there. The players thought Iowa was done. They were just standing around for a few minutes and Jeff Griesch, who also serves as woman's b-ball SID, had no idea why Iowa hadn't presented themselves, so he let the Nebraska players in front of the press, who were obviously also just waiting around the whole time. - Iowa shows up while Nebraska players are at the podium and all heck breaks loose in the hallway with Blunder ranting and raving like the lunatic she is. So, I think it's safe to say that there was much confusion and blame to casted on each side, but most should be placed at the trough of Iowa and Blunder for not promptly meeting the press as is protocol.

  27. Playing with house money tonight. Tall, tall order to bounce back after the emotion of Sunday. No matter what happens tonight, just win the last 4 and get the double bye.

  28. I know that Alexis, Jaz and Natalie are consistent enough to have good games. I am more interested in how Logan N, Kendall M. and an injured Darian W. do. Also can Callin H. contribute?

Trivia at this point: Ok it's weirdo stuff.....but I put my phone's stop watch on and timed the replay, of the inbounds play. It was over 5 seconds. They got a basket because of it. What if they won by a point ? We would have the short end of the stick, by a missed call that apparently is not reviewable. Lots of what if's, that in the end.... that doesn't matter after all. I've watched the last 2 or 3 minute replays several times..... Still exciting and unforgettable.

  32. There is a little bit of randomness involved day to day as there are certain areas of the rankings that are more bunched up in the actual numbers than others. But to Cookies point, it is pretty hard to move quickly at this point. I still hold out hope that the Purdue win will count as a whole lot more than a q1 win in reality. The quads are a lazy imperfect tool based on arbitrary numbers.

Honestly, we’re going to probably have to throw everyone most weekends. I’m not sure we have those “go to” starters for our weekend series just yet. We have a lot of new arms Im excited to see and some vets that aren’t starting either. Need everyone focused and ready at any point in the game this year. Short leash.

Well, this is not encouraging. Christo was the #1 guy coming out of fall, but he's not had a good spring, to say the least. Disheartening to have your best arm not be able to throw strikes. Hopefully, he gets straightened out in the bullpen and can be the 4th starter in weekends 2 and 3.

  45. We play a defense where we aren’t on the body of the defender on the perimeter. It leaves lanes for the offense to get to the basket for easy put backs, they have space to create angles.

  48. This is exactly why I'd go with Lawrence over Allick in the starting lineup. That and the issue of Brice getting into the offensive flow. So, mark me down as not a fan of the new lineup. I'd go back to JLaw starting at point, Josiah off the bench, and Brice in his natural wing spot.
