Emotion vs Intensity
huskerkid21 and one other reacted to jimmykc for a topic
I don't care whether a player looks stoic or overexuberant as long as he hustles, performs up to his natural ability, and is a good teammate. Demeanor is irrelevant when compared with on-court results. Appearing to have too much disinterest or too much pizzazz Is often in the eye of the beholder.2 points -

I think NU can provide us a clean sweep this weekend. Volleyball's already won a B1G title, and soccer advanced to the sweet 16 with another match on Sunday afternoon. Let's keep it rollin'! GBR1 point -

Nebraska has 1 main three-ball threat, and a bunch of guys who think they're "shooters" at the moment. They need to figure out who has a green light and who needs to work the ball.... the trajectory of the season's success hangs in the balance based on how they respond to their designated roles going forward. I think Juwan Gary coming back in a big way might just show the rest of the guys that it's okay to be who you are & not try to be heroic in their efforts. Collective good play will win a lot of ballgames, but that can all go awry when the guys don't accept who they are in the system. Just look back at the first 3 seasons under Hoiberg, it's not hard to figure out what went awry with "Hero-Ball." I think this season could go either way, let's hope it's a good trajectory in the next few weeks for Hoi-Ball. GBR1 point -
Face value was high - quite a bit higher than I remembered them being the last time we played there. $48 on the ends and $77 on the side court I think for most of them. But yes I am going also.1 point

For me, I don’t care what the ratio is at should change game to game based on what the defense is giving you. What needs to change is somewhat challenged treys early in the shot clock. We need to hunt easy layups or wide open threes the first 18-19 seconds. We can typically get a partial contested trey in the last ten seconds if we need to. We are going to be mediocre at best if we don’t figure this out soon.1 point

I-State beat Iowa last year. They made Iowa play a half court game and utilized their 6’6” center inside. You have to control the pace to beat Iowa.1 point -

Nebraska's Defense
HuskerBB reacted to Fullbacksympathy for a topic
There are some packline principles at play in this defense with a few differences like forcing baseline as many have pointed out. Packline (see Virginia) is basically a matchup zone with heavy on-ball closeouts where you force your man into help/bad shots. The anticipation of rotation is a very good thing. Most teams--even elite ones--aren't going to have elite passing. Forcing opponents into the worst shot in basketball (long baseline 2s) is definitely a good ethos. Running people off threes and into already-rotating help is totally doable and a real PITA if you have smart, hard-working players. Hoiberg's first few years' rosters wouldn't have dreamed of being able to execute this defense properly. Now that he has more coachable, hard working kids, the only way to really dismantle them is with coachable, unselfish, hard working kids on the other side, which will be rare. When you think about last year's group of guys like Bando, Griesel, Gary, etc. they were probably a Top 25 team before injuries. Absolute dogs on defense. It certainly looks to me like defense will be non-negotiable moving forward. I don't see any dropoff. Offense will sort itself out.1 point
