  1. And many here feel the Tai had his best game of the year. He is growing up right before our eyes.

Give me a break, how many time has the football stadium released the balloons too early? I have released my balloons early too. It pisses my wife off every time too.

  6. I had a guy who doesn't typically go to Husker games comment that he thought the start of the second half was weird...that while the Huskers were struggling that the crowd was just completely dead....that it took the Huskers getting going to get the crowd going...not the other way around.

  8. Congrats on getting the big win Huskers! I didn't get to watch the game but I was up at 6am on January 4th to watch OSU beat Nebraska by 31, the revenge tastes sweet.

  9. We are amped at the end of the first half. We eat expensive hot dogs and nachos and watch a "sometimes" cool half time performance or some dude chasing a $100 bill and then boom, the second half starts. The engine has been turned off or at best, is in idle. How do you fix that, you have to restart the motor. I turn to the students...ya gotta find the keys to the ignition and get the engine going.

  12. Conference coaches have to be looking at our solid core of underclassmen and thinking to themselves this Nebraska team is going to be a tough out in the coming years. Give me Petteway, a healthy Shields, a settled-in Webster, a more disciplined Biggs, a rested Leslee Smith, a more-experienced Walt Pitchford, and a sharp-shooting Nick Fuller, and a group overall more used to playing with each other and this team right here -- not some mythical team with a former Husker great on it, but THIS team -- could challenge for the top half of the league next year. There. I said it. Next year.

We aren't terribly likely to win this game and will not be favored to win the game either. They are pretty good at getting open threes. They make them we are obviously in deep trouble. We are going to have to relentlessly attack the rim with the lack of shot blocking to have a decent chance. We get in a three point shooting contest with them we likely lose. Frazier is very fast and very good at setting up open threes with his penetration. Need to try and make him more of a shooter than a distributor of clean 3's. Hungry team. I don't think we will win, but believe we can if we create good spacing and attack rim relentlessly.

  17. Why would there be hate for this decision? There was an open scholarship, and Peltz filled it. It's the University's money, not ours. This doesn't affect scholarship numbers for next season anyway. There were a few posters last year that really hated how much playing time Peltz was getting. Most likely crazy casual fans that don't see what he brings to the team. Sorry Jadler I am one that thought he played way to much last year and yes I know options were limited. That said, I will never accuse the kid of not hustling or giving his all. I think it's great he got the ship for the second semester.

Penn State appears to have a very Doc Sadler-esque noncon schedule. They have some good wins in there, but for the most part it's pretty chalky. As of today, Penn State's KenPom ranking is 109. (Nebraska-Omaha is 112, FWIW) Penn State Kenpom rundown 1-22-14. ============================== Non Conference (9-4): 217. Wagner - W (74-62) 173. Bucknell - L (80-90) 248. @Penn - W (83-71) 76. In state kids?

Stop it… EE was the best player on the floor in probably 95% of the games he played in his senior year. This North kid was probably his own teams 4th best player (his team is one of the worst in the metro btw) and got torched by a 6'2 post guy when I watched him. He is NOT coming to Nebraska and if he does, it is a sign of how far away our program is…. FWIW I looked at his numbers for the game I saw him play o points on 0-6 shooting (I recall at least 2 air balls) 3 rebounds 1 block 25 minutes PLEASE STOP……

Still want to see the slow-motion rush-the-court that Tim Miles suggested late last season.

  30. I tried to move on to the PSU game but I want at least 1 more day celebrating the OSU win. Mike Peltz had the play of the game that had me cheering the most. Towards the end of the first half OSU had a fast break transition off a turnover and it looked like Smith wass going to foul their player going to the basket. Peltz literally dove in front of Smith, blocking the shot but more importantly drawing the foul so that his teammate didn't get his second foul just before halftime. It was a hustle play and it it was as heads up of a play I have seen in a while. I think I was the only one in the arena standing and cheering loudly for that play. Way to take the bullet for your team and teammate Peltz!

  31. I wonder if, through our Scarlet and Cream colored glasses, we see that as a "great hustle play" but others would see it as shady and dirty as the Gibbs flying suplex of Petteway earlier this season. I still stood up and cheered when it happened! I don't see it that way and I don't think any reasonable basketball fan of neither team would view those plays in the same light. Peltz was able to get down court fast enough to make an actual play on the ball -- not even a hard foul -- that prevented an easy layup and forced Craft to get the points at the line instead. Two things separate what Peltz did from what Gibbs did: 1) not a "hard" foul; and 2) actual play on the ball. The two aren't even comparable in my opinion.

  32. All a matter of perspective and expectations I suppose... Arizona and Ohio State fans are like multimillionaires who are upset that they can't get to a billion dollars. We are peasants who would be thrilled about winning $1,000...or even finding a $20 lying on the street. I guess many college football fans probably think Nebraska football fans are the same way, constantly whining and griping about the team even after finishing 9-4 or 10-4 every year for more than half a decade now. Most fans would love their teams to be in that position. Unfortunatley our expectations for men's basketball are pretty low, and we still can't quite get there. I have a feeling it's changing soon. Petteway has proven himself, Shields is a good player when playing healthy, Webster was excellent last night and has much more upside than a player like Aaron Craft. Pending disaster, these guys have 2 more full years together after this one. We literally need one good big man to come in here next year and be physical enough to grab some boards and make layups for 8-10 pts a game next year. Jacob Hammond, hit the weights kid! I must be a peasant, I found a 20 in a parking lot at the CWS last year. And it paid for my part of the gas, I was thrilled as hell
