Please explain to me the reason for recruiting this early. A lot can happen between now and when he graduates. Three years from now he decides to go elsewhere, or becomes involved with drugs, or whatever, have we not reduced the chances of recruiting another good player because they have all committed to other schools?

You mean we need to start signing players like Keanu Pindar--his commitment to Nebrasketball has been roundly pooh-poohed because he wasn't getting the light of day from any other high majors and was buried on the depth chart at prep school. But he is now blowing up as a potential recruit for other teams--can't sign him yet because he isn't eligible, but he has committed.

You mean we need to start signing players like Tarin Smith, who flew under the high-major recruiting radar, except for Nebraska's, and is now proving to be an excellent catch--he is signed and here.

You mean we need to start signing players like Michael Jacobson, who seemed to fly under everyone's radar, until he committed to Nebraska, when the likes of Iowa then tried to get into the mix--he has committed.

Aguek Arop received an offer. Some on this board suggested the Husker offer was premature. Now the grief is that he hasn't committed yet?

Pinder gonna be a juco for two yrs and then only have 2 yrs left. Even then, he could commit elaewhere. Miles dont get credit yet for signing a kid that aint signed!

Iowa starting to get in the mix wit Jacobson dont mean nothin to me. Their gettin in da mix never consisted of an offer, just some sniffin round. Jacobsons offer list looked like the offer list of mosta Docs recruits and moat erebody here rhought Doc be a bad recruiter.

Big ten is damn good in hoops. Every coach gotta get top 100 kids to be succesful long term. Aint gonna find a Petteway dat nobody else wants very often. Miles is a good x an o guy - really good. I want to see him beat out some legit compwtition for kids doe.

Three people with strong ties to the Omaha basketball community told The World-Herald on Sunday night they expect the 6-foot-4, 180-pound wing to accept the scholarship that NU coach Tim Miles offered on July 13.

If that happens, the 15-year-old would be the youngest player ever to commit to Nebraska for basketball, according to World-Herald research.

It's one of those where the reporters know about this previous and are told to keep it on the hush until he announces.. In this case this morning and lee pushed the buttons and released it to soon and didn't respect arops request to let him tell his peers. Lee did his job, but jumped the gun to early. Happens quite a bit in football as well.. Known as the silent commit.

Sources say stuff all the time but those don't always turn into full newspaper articles. Lee could have just reported an update that he was near a decision.
