We could accomplish everything we want in our defense without doing half the crap we do.

We do not need to pre-trap the baseline for every player and we do not need to pre-run people off. It’s absolutely ridiculous we keep doing this. That could have been a disaster last night.

Did we start playing more straight man in the 2nd half?  Washington was dribbling around a lot.

After BB blocked that corner 3, didn't they only hit 1 or 2 more?

Could that have been a difference?

I think we just 1) have better players as a whole

2)are in better physical shape, well maybe one isn't 🤨

3)and are at times very much a strong mentally tough team

think that showed in the second half

I fell asleep after their 9th three, so I have no idea.

Once again going towards my theory of just needing to stay away and be negative.

Morgan is shooting better from the field (56.8%) than he is from the line (56.5%).

He was 68% before the Iowa game. Been a real bad stretch. No reason he won’t come out of it though.

As to Berke’s conditioning, I wonder if his groin isn’t 100% and he’s not able to do a full load of conditioning. I hurt mine years ago and it still bothers me occasionally. Last night he went down the tunnel at one point in the second half, could be playing through it and still needing treatment there.

I just think we communicated switches much better in H2. First half seemed to be a lot of confusion / lack of attention which led to some of those wide open looks.

Might be why RW started the second half, he was playing good def.

There was a play he made last night that might reinforce that theory.  Berke made a great defensive play and saved the ball from going out of bounds by flipping it forward, but then he just stopped, letting the others run the break.  I thought it was odd he did not try to fill the lane or trail the play.  He either felt he was not needed or maybe it was his groin.

2nd question:  Did Washington have a ball hit the bottom of the shot clock and go in?  It was when they were making everything.  It looked like the ball bounced up and hit something then went in.  Seemed like a really weird bounce.

Were you wearing your red and white overalls and stocking hat? They showed a guy wearing that after game on tv and thought you said you wore overalls to Oregon game. If it was you it was 5-10 seconds of fame on BTN.

When is the last time NU has had back-to-back wins during one road trip?

At the end of the 2021-2022 season, with a team that went into that stretch with a 7-21 record, and a coach that had at the time a 6-50 record in Big Ten play, this happened:

Yeah, I knew about that. I just meant a singular road trip. I don't think that had ever happened. With an 18-team league, these type of back-to-back roadies will be relatively common going forward.

This is very true.  The only counter point is that by doing it some of the time it will make us more prone to mistakes.  I would like to think coaching it up well would make it a net positive to mix it up a bit more.

As long as we are talking about defensive issues, the thing that drives me crazy, beyond anything else we do (and probably to an unhealthy degree) is seeing Meah, who is a 7'1" giant, constantly JUMPING at every pump fake or shot attempt or close out, over and over and over again.  Even when it's a guard who penetrates into the lane Meah will jump in trying to block him.   Dude!  Just stop jumping.  Meah should never jump on the defensive end.  Ever! Just stand with two hands up and make the offense player shoot over you.  Good grief.  Do the coaches coach him at all, or is he simply incorrigible?

After just two games it was clear that Meah was not the answer and I am glad the coaches are finally in agreement by taking him out the starting lineup and reducing his playing time.  BTW, this is a good lesson.  For YEARS people on this board and casual Husker fans have been clamoring for a true big man.  Well, be careful what you wish for.  There is reason the traditional big man has largely gone the way of the dodo.  Players who can't dribble, pass or shoot, and can't defend the pick'n roll are liabilities in today's game, even at 7'1".  And players who are 7'1" and CAN dribble, pass and shoot are extremely rare and sure as heck aren't coming to DONU.

What he is doing isn’t something this staff can correct.  It is very likely he has done that all of his basketball life.  It is too ingrained for him to just stop now.

There are some big men in the world of basketball today, but with all the coaching, AAU teams, etc… nobody wants a back to the basket “true” center.

Ain't gonna be no more Kareem’s any more.

As strange as it may sound I wasn't frustrated with how things were going in 1st half even though UW couldn't miss a 3. We couldn't get closer than 10 but they couldn't expand lead to more than 13 it seemed. And the last 4-5 minutes they started to resemble more of who they are. And speaking of 3's I did some research and found that Indiana St. went 12-12 from 3 pt range in February of 2012 and appears to be only time a division 1 team has shot 100% from 3. Troy attempted 74 3's in December of 1994 for most attempts. They also made a record 28 and are tied with Wyoming who made 28 in November of 2021 against Nebraska's very own Hastings College.

Juwan came out very aggressive in 2nd half after being a limited due to picking up 2 1st half fouls. I thought he keyed the 12-2 run to open the 2nd.

Noticed that Brice used a ball fake very effectively to get open shots/drives a few times.

Liked that Sam looked to score when he drove rather than looking to pass. Helped that it stayed 1 on 1 as help D never

showed.

Was anyone else thinking after not getting any points after UW flagrant that the lead could slip away?

Really enjoyed the big lead late and went to sleep happy.
