And we have 7 wins.

And 7 players shooting 35% (rounded) or better from 3-point range.

Four at 40% or better.

Four guys averaging between 14 and 16 points per game.

Our portal post is averaging a double-double.

Our portal SG is shooting almost 42% from 3 and over 90% from the line while posting a 2.4:1 assist/turnover ratio.

Our portal native Nebraskan is putting up darn close to the numbers he posted a year ago as a starter at New Mexico in 6 fewer minutes per game.

Our SG-converted-into-a-PG has dished 23 assists to only 10 turnovers on the season, and zero turnovers in the last 3 games.

What we didn't find in the portal we seemed to have found within our own numbers.

It'll be interesting to see what we do on Sunday, but it looks for all the world like all of our major roster needs over the off-season have been addressed.

This just has the looks of a team that's going to win some games this year.

Proposition: Juwan Gary's season-ending shoulder injury and surgery on his non-shooting arm is the best thing that happened to his basketball career.

Change my mind.

Sometimes sitting and watching can be helpful for a guy like Juwan Gary, he's able to see how to play with those around him better. He's probably always relied on his freakish athleticism, but now he's had the ability to be a more rounded, mindful player in the system at NU. I think he's a significant X-factor in the next matchup

23'-'24 stats meaningless at this time.   Let's check again after we've played a few games against somebody.

A lot goes into making this true but is it too much of a stretch to say the PRIMARY reason is because Mast is on our side? I LOVE how Walker played the game last year but, IMO, Mast commands more attention from the opponents and that makes everyone else's job easier.

We also look confident… with a little bit of cocky which isn’t the worst thing in the world.  We don’t walk into a gym hoping to win this year… we walk in expecting to win and plan on look good doing it.

Things won’t always go our way.  We will lose some games. We haven’t seen adversity yet and we can always go by up. However, all that being said… this looks like a tourney team… against cruddy teams yes, but a tourney team nonetheless.  Creighton is a huge test and challenge but I have a feeling the guys are up to it.

he is missing horribly on so many shots.  Airballs, bricks off the side of the glass etc.  It tells me his made percentage is fluky high.  Needs to be wide open in perfect shooting stance for it to be a reasonable shot IMO.

Too many guys on the roster think they have a 'green light' on deep balls when in reality it ought to be a small number of dudes.

I didn't see the game but according to the radio broadcast his airballs were short. Short from way behind the arc I've seen even from good shooters, but he is right at the line which leads me to believe that he's thinking about the shot and aiming it. As far as hitting the side of the backboard, heck, Wilcher has done that a few times since he's been here, which is more distressing since he is a good shooter (streaky but a good stroke).

Juwan Gary was short & long. One of his corner 3s was way long, another clanked off the corner of the backboard. It was definitely due to launching and hoping. Not a sustainable shooting motion. He needs to attack the glass more often.

CJ also hit the side of the backboard. Gary needs to go to the basket more I agree but he has a completely different shot than last year. His FT’s are just under 70% and after the last game he is still shooting about 38% from three. Even in the last game he shot 33%. So attack the basket more but he still can catch and shoot within the offense.

No issue with that. I was responding to the notion that Gary's shots were all short, which wasn't the case. He needs to be an efficient scorer, however that occurs... fine with me.

Gary could certainly use the fact that he’s made a couple threes to get the defense closing out hard and/or up in the air, then attack off of it and get to the basket and free throw line when he’s not totally open. Now he’s just gotta make that move and not huck it up there every time.

Agreed. Pick your spots better, J.G.

It’s more the eye test on the ineffective 35.4% that’s driving my nitpicking.

The cap on eFG% is 150% because a 3pt make counts as 1.5 makes.

Thus your nitpick is more like 43.9% because his FG% is 56.1%.

This feels like a TEAM . Even in the past when we had success we were so reliant on 2-3 guys to carry the load.

We have 10 guys who can give us minutes and they all seem to know their role. We have legit shooters but also guys who can play defense. Mast has been a joy to watch. Allick is the bulldog we all have wanted.

I don’t want to get too excited because I am too use to getting kicked in the groin by sports when I am happy but this team is fun to watch.

If they can continue to blend, I assume the cream will rise to the top and we will be closer to 8 deep but nice to have so much depth.

This is a deep team.  Leaves me to wonder/fear if there are any transfer whispers with players that are not currently inside the 9 man rotation?   Definitely not saying there is; but player handlers can tend to push these days.
