Moe was focused on “getting the ball into Dave” so much he forgot he had subbed him out over 3 minutes ago. Crowd was getting restless as our lead fittled away. I yelled “Put in Curtis” and immediately Moe yells for Curtis to go back in the game, the student section cheered and Curtis gave me a look back as he headed to the scorers table jimmykc, Dead Dog Alley and Handy Johnson 3 Quote

I didn't see any leadership qualities from him but think he had potential to be a good player for us. He showed flashes but needed more consistency. Hate to lose Freshman but that is the world today. You start 6 games at a freshman at a Big 10 school and still not good enough for you. In today's world, your lucky if you get a kid to stay for even 2 years. Sad times. Quote

The reasons I personally grew to love it are no longer there. Is the next generation of fan going to be able to foster the same type of attachment? The hooks are already in for me and the rest of us. Similar to my feelings. I used to enjoy the feeling of loyalty to the school and the process of a kid developing over 4 years. Those elements are gone. I’ve already dialed back on pro sports because so much of it is talking about salary caps, restructuring contracts, blah, blah, blah. Now, college sports is a bunch of crap about NIL, portals, blah, blah, blah. I’m not ready to quit on Husker hoops just yet, but the emotional investment just isn’t what it used to be. Idk, maybe I’d feel differently if we actually won something. cornfed24-7 and Bugeaters1 2 Quote

That's part of it, but the bigger fault lies in all the money sloshing around in college sports. It starts with school administrations, conferences and coaches and filters down. The parents and guardians get stars in their eyes because they see the money out there and want their slice of the pie. roscoe and cornfed24-7 2 Quote

Total valid question as it's difficult to keep paying the donation and cost of season tickets when the kids that are here are already looking ahead to where they can go to get a better deal. There is absolutely no difference between college and pro sports now other than the college athletics are younger. I was so against NIL as knew once we went down this path, it would totally ruin what we all loved in college athletics. With this younger generation, it's just never enough. They always want more. I have been a die hard NU hoops fans for several decades but makes it harder and harder to continue to pay to go watch kids that are only here until they can get more money somewhere else. And what's more sad it NIL is just starting so the money and effect it will have will only get worse. Basically, that is the only way to recruit is tell the kid how much money you will pay him. My, how times have changed and not for the better. Edited March 21, 2023 by kldm64 Handy Johnson and cornfed24-7 1 1 Quote

Same. I used to be a huge UNC fan and a bunch of my buddies were Duke fans. We were just talking the other night how neither of us really care at all about those teams or that rivalry anymore. One and Done's, "5-stars only" mentality, and now immediate transfers - all those have basically ruined the enjoyment of college basketball at that level and specifically that rivalry. I literally only liked this year's nebrasketball team because of how hard they played and specifically because of Sam Griesel. But I sorely miss the days of knowing who the majority of your team was coming back and watching true juniors and seniors play. busticket, Chuck Taylor, HB and 3 others 6 Quote

I mean this sincerely - It's gotta be really tough when you've played basketball your whole life, been the man, even had some success here - and then after some time the analytics just show your team is worse when you're on the court and better when others are playing. huskerbill85, Silverbacked1 and hhcmatt 3 Quote
