Now, if I read correctly what Dimes posted on the projected 2024 starting lineup, CJ might not be here Come Monday. (Sorry, one of the few Jimmy Buffet songs I like). If that's the case, why would little brother come to Lincoln?  Or, maybe I'm missing something which often times happens...

Appears it's going to be St. John's. They could be a ranked team to start the season in Pitino's first year already.

I wouldn't be surprised if a certain guard from Rutgers ends up there as well.

I may be in the minority but I’m not interested in Wilcher.  He is listed as a PG by rivals, on3 and 246 have him as a combo and shooting guard.  Can’t find where I saw it, but if the stats I saw were correct he shot below 30% from three with a 1:1 assist-to-turnover ratio last year.  He basically strikes me as an athletic slashing scorer.  More of a Matt A type of recruit.

That concept is what I struggle with.  Especially in sports like wrestling where there are strict scholarship limitations and partial scholarships.  NIL give the elite like Penn St unlimited scholarships essentially.

Yeah, something probably will need to be done.  Or not...who knows?

Remember when Doug McDermott was a walk on his senior year and was the National Player of the Year.

Yes I do, but I am not understating how that relates to my post.

A former student of mine is the holder/backup punter for K-State.

He's a walk-on.

The last two years his tuition has been paid through a NIL package (honestly, I hate the term NIL. It's sponsorship money more than anything, but alas...).

The same way this does:

Remember when Tyronn Lue played well at Nebraska;

and then played on two NBA Champion teams in his first three seasons;

and then served as a Head Coach, leading his team to an NBA Championship in his first season;

and then in each of the next two years, leads that same team into the NBA Championship Finals;

and then goes to another NBA team as Head Coach, leading that team to its first Conference Finals appearance in franchise history?

Loosely related here to your post, but count me as one that thinks it's a good thing the more kids that get thier college paid for because of NIL. Even if it skirts scholarship limits. Which have now become usless. I guess you could make some title IX arguments. But this really circumvents those doesn't it?

Nothing really other than showing that schools have always found ways to get around rules in place.  Whether that is using NIL money as a scholarship if you don't have any available or making the best player in the country a walk-on to free up a scholarship for someone else, these things have been going on for awhile.

That is awesome stuff but something is going right over my head as I don’t see the connection to NIL providing unlimited scholarships in the sports with strict limitations.
