Maybe McDermott would be tempted to move to a big time program again and show that his Iowa State failure was a fluke? After all, he won't have Tim to kick around any more.

I'd imagine it's something like that. It's hard for me to believe that Beilein would do this all in a vacuum and ghost the university.

if the contracts guaranteed, not a bad move, given how much NBA coaches are paid.

True, he can take the guaranteed money and then always come back to college if he wants.

Wow, this is really something.  Cleveland is nowhere near being a respectable club.  The big ten got worse.  I am okay with it though.  He was arguably the best in the land.  Loved his system, both on offense and defense.  They tried to not take long twos and tried to make you do that.

McDermott might be interested but guessing Michigan would not have any interest in McDermott

It's hard to replace one of the best coaches in the country with another one of the best coaches in the country.  There's a good chance Michigan's program will slip a bit.  And now where are they going to find a coach?  The timing for Michigan sucks.

Beilein is/was one of the best college basketball coaches around. If he fails in NBA he won't be unemployed long as others have mentioned. I was going to say that I hope Michigan slips a little and Huskers overtake them but to heck with that. Hope they remain at same level they are at and Huskers overtake them.
