Handy Johnson Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 (edited) Last night he passed Husker/Laker legend Stu Lantz for 16th place on the NU scoring list. Also passed Brian Carr (who was in the house) on the All-time NU assist list. Keep it rollin’ Brother! Edited January 15, 2019 by Handy Johnson Art Vandalay and basketballjones 2 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Congrats Glynn. I love it. Didn't know Carr was in the house. Was he a guest of the team and near the bench? Last I heard (via Dave and his where are they now interviews) he was teaching and had a cooking show back home in Indiana. Handy Johnson and hhcmatt 2 Quote
tcp Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Watson definitely the straw stirring the drink. that "butt steal" yesterday should be a season highlight. basketballjones, Huskerpapa and BmoreRed 3 Quote
colhusker Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 Watson is my favorite on this team. He could have taken his ball and gone home when others bailed on their team. He stayed and took the role of leader. Add in he is a damn fine player. NUtball, Handy Johnson, SkersHoops and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Keenan9595 Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 My buddy asked me this question yesterday night during the game, Glynn is going to be in the top of most of our stat lists, has won a ton of games, been a loyal 4 year leader and great on both sides of the ball. Here’s the kicker...is his a Jersey we retire? Quote

royalfan Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 He made the biggest play of the game by far last night. We were reeling and the lead all the way down to 3 and roby had recently gone to bench with three fouls. Watson hit a little 14 footer by the free throw line on a nice move and we never looked back. Handy Johnson Posted January 16, 2019 Author Report Posted January 16, 2019 Regardless of our tournament run, I’ll say Glynn will NOT have his jersey retired. That’s for the elite of the elite. As an example, Cookie Belcher is in the Top 10 on the NCAA steals list & his jersey is nowhere to be found... Quote

In the post-game interview, Miles was listing some of Watson's strengths. One of them he threw out was "loyalty." That's not a strength coaches usually list in such an interview but in this case, I can definitely see why Miles would include the trait. Red Don, AuroranHusker, colhusker and 4 others 3 1 3 Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Both Glynn and Brian are two of the four best point guards we ever had in my life time.. The other two would be Tyronn and Jack. All four were great at what they did by the running team, and then each has/had their own strengths. colhusker 1 Quote

Pretty cool to mention some NU great back-court leaders in the past 40 years, and that a current dude is a part of the fearsome foursome, well, that's fun too: Glynn Watson Jr Brian Carr Tyronn Lue Jack Moore Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Handy Johnson Posted January 16, 2019 Author Report Posted January 16, 2019 I’m not going to throw out a whole list of Huskers who could or should have their jersey retired, but you just mentioned one of two that come readily to mind: Jack Moore Andre Smith Silverbacked1 1 Quote
