I asked Eichorst in what ways he can help Miles boost the men’s basketball program.

His response? By staying out of the way.

“That’s my approach,” Eichorst said. “I try to give people the resources and the guidance they need and get out of the way and let them do their thing. Everybody does things differently and everybody has a special way about doing things.

I love these types of leaders. Hire the best candidate; give them assistance; and let them work their mojo. If it does not work out, admit your mistake and move on.

Just for fun, I went all the way to the end to see what our last thread to be responded to was.

Cip- your question was answered.

CWG- you learned something new over 4 years ago!

Eichorst still "staying out of the way?"

49r- Still yet to be seen, but he did something less than 3 years after that post that had people drooling!

Overall fun to visit to see what we were talking about 4 years and 3 months ago!

Well, this is a timely bump, huh Shawn?

Posted two minutes before yours.

He doesn't have time to actually meet with Miles but will show up at practice for photo op. Bet he is regretting not extending his contract last year.

Miles brought up SE during the Indiana post game as they had talked about running Roby at the point

Considering you have a lot of guys in blue sweater vests who put a lot of money towards this university for football, you named dropped Iowa as part of your explanation about firing Pelini, and you grew up in Wisconsin doesn't it make an awful lot of sense that beating Iowa in anything is personally a lot more important to our AD than beating anyone else, including Creighton.

It isn't about beating anyone; it's about the student-athlete experience.  And energy.   And vampires.  And tulips and unicorns.

Do not mistake my take here as any sort of endorsement either for or against our AD. I obviously care about the direction of the entire athletic department and programs but considering complaining about the AD director at Nebraska is akin to complaining about the weather there really isn't a need for me to have some sort of hot take opinion on this with the exception of whether or not the guy is going to ax Miles at some point in his tenure.

Thus, just looking at the public statements and trying to put on my AD hat I have to think that winning tonight would be a pretty big + in the contract extension department. No pressure or anything.

FWIW, I have reason to believe Bounds is a Miles supporter at this point in time.  Regardless of the AD's own views, I don't believe he wants to have to make a major hire in the near future, or engage with anyone higher up the food chain right now.  So I agree he would just as soon win tonight and it would be helpful in regard to your concern.  I just wanted to make a point about what primarily drives this guy.

Along with looking at what he says it is also important to look at what he does. Miles reports to an intermediary and not directly to the AD along with not extending Miles contract.

@HB Hopefully the regents are in Miles corner as well.

Kind of interesting that the whole place was standing at the end of the game and the OTs except for SE and his sons. They did not stand at all the whole game. His wife on the other hand is a super fan, she is up and cheering all the time and is at about every game even without Sean.

How could they see?
