I am at a loss...we simply did not play very well tonight.  Missing a contested shot is understandable, but missing numerous open looks and free throws...not acceptable.

Why I am hoping Horne was sick tonight and not just Miles has made him the whipping child this year.  To good to sit this much.  Gut is telling me he looks elsewhere next year if things don't change.  Hope I'm wrong.

Interesting stats:

Both teams shoot 48 2-point FGs and make 20 = 40-40 points

Both teams shoot 15 3-point FGs, and Neb makes 3 while NW makes 6 = 9-18 points

Both teams shoot 19 FTs, and Nebraska makes 12 while NW makes 15 = 12-15 points

I'm thinking same thing... at some point u just got to play them. He very well could transfer

Can't make shots, can't get stops, can't make free throws.  That will never be a winning recipe.

NW is good though, probably a top 4 league finish this year for them.  It's their year.  Unfortunately, probably not ours...again. *sigh*

We'll always have that one month in 2014 though right?

Pardon against Nebraska is ridiculous

4 G 2 GS 28-36 FG's (77.8%)  0-0 3PT's  10-16 FT's (62.5%)  16.5 PPG 10.5 RPG 0.8 APG 0.5 TOPG 1.3 BPG 0.8 SPG

Against all other teams

29 G 11 GS 74-130 FG's (56.9%) 0-0 3PT's 32-62 FT's (51.6%)  6.2 PPG 5.7 RPG 0.7 APG 0.7 TOPG 1.4 BPG 0.3 SPG

Small sample size, or just loves playing against Nebraska?

We played well defensively most of the night...keeping them in check at the 3pt line. The end distorted things a bit in terms of score.  We shut down Lindsay

Doesn't it seem like we really committed to driving into contact and not getting calls?

I could see what we were trying to do but we didn't have the shooting/juice to pull it off. Northwestern is the real deal so they're not going to give you this game.

Can we get Horne playing the 4? If anyone is looking like they need to sit on the bench/play with the scout team for a game it's Roby.

Horne is a Sophomore 230# Michigan St type SF/PF in progress. Hopefully he sticks with it and he'll have opportunities this year, especially if we keep losing.

The tale of the tape. Nebraska isn't very good at shooting the round ball into the basket.

Oh geez

Does he make a difference tonight if he plays 5-10 minutes in the first half? That''s really the question here. Obviously both teams were struggling and could have used a spark. It's tough to know which team he would spark given how he played the last time vs Northwestern.

Miles putting him in when it's a blow out? With all due respect to Jeriah, fucking show up in practice so you can play.

Can't think of much to be optimistic about this morning. About as close as I can come is the little spurt at the end that made Collins put his starters back in for the last few seconds to "teach a lesson". And we seem to be succeeding in our effort to single-handedly put Pardon onto the all Big10 team. I just hope our losing streak does not reach double figures now.

I agree.  Also, it's not like he has been on fire from 3.  He is 4 for his last 17 from 3.  If he wants playing time, he needs to come to practice ready to learn.  Learn where he needs to be on defense.  When to take a shot.  He has the tools to be a very good player.  He just needs to learn where to be when he is on the court.

Next day thoughts bring me to a point of frustration once again.  We seemed to have had a good game plan going in.  Surprise them with a zone, but it didn't work, so we swiftly came back to a man-to-man and crawled back into the game.  Defensive effort was good, but when MJ came off him to provide help defense, we got burned on the back end.  Our offense was bad, but it wasn't due to the concept, it was with finishing off the plays.  We (once again) were not getting calls when Tai or Glynn were "brushed up" around the basket, or when MJ attempted to put back shots.  Everyone seemed to be short on their shots, and we missed too many open looks.  And lastly, once again our free throw shooting was spotty, at best.

Do we miss Ed?  Absolutely.  But for us to move from a middle of the road team, to a top level team, we need to step up.

Coach threw Lewis under the bus on the post-game show for the zone; claimed Lewis talked him into starting out in that.  Hard to tell how serious he was.

I would transfer if I was Horne

Outside of Horne seriously dogging it in practice(that would surprise me)....there really is no good excuse to not play him at all considering our depth.  It's likely Miles defensive minded brain taking over again.  I don't know if Horne right now is the guy that can dramatically improve our offense...but, he definitely has a presence on that end of the floor that helps guys like Watson and Webster.  Meanwhile, Roby is deathly afraid of taking a shot and has scored 2 points in the past three games.

What's really scary is this isn't even supposed to be the year Northwestern was going to be good and make the tournament.  Next year was.
