BOOM (Copeland has decided)

Anybody else concerned about Gill returning at full speed? According to what I've read he can't resume normal activities for 3 months and sports activities for 4-6 months. And there is no guarantee he comes back full speed. There could also be a little bit of a mental block on his "trusting" the knee. For some reason I just have bad feeling about this injury.

Yes. What he did to his knee is sometimes career threatening.

With the patellar tendon there are many more question marks than a typical knee surgery such as an ACL. A lot of people will just kind of put Gill's issue in the typical 'knee surgery' category and think he'll just have surgery, have a recovery period, and be back. That is not the case. If he comes back (patellar tendon rupture can be career threatening), there will be serious questions about what level he is able to return to. I know it's football, but read this about the injury:

Huge get. Easily the most talent, on paper, in Nebrasketball history. Hoping that his rehab goes extremely well and can get started with the team next fall.

Easily the most talent?  Does next year's squad have 3 future NBA regulars and a future Big 10 P.O.Y?

Think Strickland, Lue, Moore & Hamilton as in 1995-96.  That was probably our most talented (on paper).  I sure hope you are right, though.

I think the addition of Copeland will cost Jordy the most minutes next year.  As the season goes on, I see Morrow and Copeland starting with Jacobson as the first sub for either of these two.  The maturity and talent level of these three will earn Mile's trust and they will play the most.  I also see Roby making a big leap next year and could play the four with Morrow or Jacobson at the five spot -- again, taking minutes away from Jordy.  (I really want to see Roby at the three spot -- with his vision, passing ability, driving ability, shooting, he needs to be on the wing to take advantage of his talents.)  Mucho talent for the next two years -- can't wait.

Possibly.  It'll be deeper than that team if nothing else.

I'll take 1991, which had a future first rounder coming off the bench in Piatkowski. King and Farmer were also NBA players and Bruce Chubick barely played. Not to mention guys like Scales, Hayes, and Owens that would all find minutes on that roster. And they won 26 games.

I hate to be the resident Eeyore, but when I measure your response with what I'm reading online (such as below), I have a hard time being as excited.

Nebraska has landed a commitment from Georgetown transfer Isaac Copeland, a source told NBC Sports.

Copeland was a five-star prospect coming out of high school, but the 6-foot-8 forward never progressed in his career with the Hoyas. He had bright moments as a freshman and looked good in flashes as a sophomore, but he lost playing time this year as a junior and eventually left the program.

The connection here is pretty obvious: Kenya Hunter, a former assistant with Georgetown who recruited Copeland to the Hilltop, is now on Tim Miles’ staff in Lincoln.

Copeland has one year of eligibility remaining. He will be eligible to play for the spring semester in the 2017-18 season or for the entire year in 2018-19.

Honestly, Eeyore, I don't think the author really knows what he's talking about.  That should make you feel better.  :)

Very good front court that would've performed well in the B1G, I think, but the guard play wasn't great on that squad.  It showed in the tournament.

Not sure if this one had been posted:

Ignore the usual dunks, etc. that highlight videos always have and watch where he's shooting. The stuff around the elbow is killer for breaking 2-3 zones, not to mention the 3s. I agree that playing time is going to be difficult to figure out, but Copeland's game will have a major impact on our offense.

miles went from on the hot seat to virtually nobody wanting to fire him in about 3 weeks.

We're still on the rollercoaster. What we've done here is made sure the cupboard has been restocked for next year and that should be enough to guarantee Miles is around next year.

Ummm our bench on this list would have all started in 2012-2013

Also I think I would start Taylor at the 2

I like Taylor more than the next guy but he's not a 2 guard and shouldn't start there. ATM to me he's our backup PG next year and best case is that he comes in to give Watson breathers and/or because of foul trouble. Whoever is the better shooter/scorer between Palmer/Gill should be your starter at 2.

It just seems that every time this program is delt a blow (ala AWIII, Anton),  something good will happen like an improbable start to the conference, winning 2 on the road, and now Cope!

I believe Coach Miles is just slowly adding key pieces here and there. Whether that's coaching staff or kids on the roster.  My heart tells me that soon, this whole thing is going to come together and it's going to be really cool to watch!
