He still had 20/8/5 and his game cut short by ticky tack calls while he was getting hammered on his jumpers. Millikan doesn’t airball midrange jumpers, clearly got hit twice on the arm.5 points -

I disagree with Markowski quite strongly. There’s no need to make the game MORE physical than it already is. Adding a foul without increasing game time will just have dudes playing insane.4 points -

It’s an interesting debate about the merit of logging minutes against lesser competition. I tend to go back and forth but when you see a lot of guys transfer from smaller schools to bigger schools, such as Sam Griesel and Baylor Schierman, would they have been the players they are today if they had rode the pine at a power 5 program? I personally think that getting 3 seasons of major minutes at smaller schools allowed them to develop into the players they are today. I just don’t think anything compares to game experience.4 points -

I'm just gonna drop this and run. I had doubts about us getting Chucky or Sallis because of Chucky's dad and because Sallis would have to swallow his pride after not even including us in his top 8 or whatever. But a guy connected to the recruiting process says Chucky and Sallis are very much in play.3 points -

So quick follow up question. Other then the shot clock in Class A, what are the HS rule changes in the last 10 to 15 years? I contend there haven't been significant rule changes; rather, the interpretation of the rules is the significant change. If so, reevaluate and start enforcing that contact is a foul, anywhere on the court, and the player who initiated the contact receives the call. Once the initial shock and awe is absorbed by coaches and players, the game will be cleaner, faster with much more scoring.2 points -

I think they have to get rid of secondary defender charges, increase (or add, for hs) charge circle size, and start being super mindful of WHO created the contact and go from there. Offensive players create 80% of the contact on drives and in the air and get rewarded for it.2 points -

Not sure about any commentary but factually the Thunderbird division 1 players haven’t been Huskers. Except for Erick Strickland. But they’ve sent a few to CU and now Wiscy1 point -

A bit tough when you don't play good basketball in January and wait until February to kick it into gear. We needed too many things out of our control* to work in our favor by March (like seeding, bubble/autobids, etc.). Good reminder for next season as a pulse check for our progress. (*of course winning 5 games in 5 days is within our control, but the probabilities are very unlikely)1 point -

Much colder than Friday and yesterday. Was 31 and "feels like" of 19 at the game starting time. Hate to miss a game but this decision was correct (and mandated by rule).1 point -

Thought this would happen. I chatted with him briefly at the ladies tournament. I wish him well. That said, perhaps Nebraska coaches will have better luck getting their foot inside the Bellevue West doors moving forward.1 point -
Yup, and our coach one time entered the numbers for the home jerseys in the official scorebook, but we were on the road. Correcting the number in the book was a 2-FT technical foul each time a new player entered the game. We started down 7-0 or 8-0 before the opening tip. Good times.1 point

Agree. Markowski was saying that 6 fouls should be the limit now. Not sure one way or the other with that. I've always wondered about putting no limit on fouls but 6th foul and more would be treated like an intentional foul, 2 free throws and ball and possibly having player sit out until next dead ball excluding time outs. Just an old guy and crazy thinking. And maybe I missed this but former Millard North player Saint Thomas no longer listed on Loyola/Chicago roster.1 point -

Watched Milikan yesterday and came away impressed. Always moving with or without the ball. Was curious to see how he would deal with Skutts height as York lacked big to protect basket. Had guy earlier in day tell me to watch him in warm ups as he rarely misses...he was 1st guy in lay up line and he missed it.1 point -

The HR streak ends at 12 games. Time to start a new one tomorrow. Impressive to say the least… 9-1 in our last 10 with a win over a top 10 team. Our offense is dangerous and our Friday/Saturday guys can really get it going. We’ll be a tough series out for just about anyone.1 point -

Watched many of the H. S. state tourney girls games. Was impressed by the "B" final. Both Elkhorn N and Skutt were really quick defensively. Both rteams are class A competitive. Class A Millard S, and Lincoln High had some quickness too. .........Maybe play fast and play hard are a better description. Seems like the H.S. game is going in that direction. I know obviously ...H.S. and college are two different games on many levels. The point is, at times, they looked like they played faster on defense, than our Husker Women. Just an observation, maybe way off base, but reminded me of some of the defenses of some upper level B1G teams.....and others of course.1 point

A Malcom freshman athlete by the name of Halle Dolliver is an athlete to follow in the future. Not saying she is another Britt Prince but she did have 71 total points in 3 games this weekend. 5'10" with an athletic frame and great hops. Fast and has great BB skills. Plays on club team coached by Andy Markowski.1 point

Millard South has probably the best trio in the state playing the same 4 years together. They were pretty impressive. Scored 70 of their record-breaking 72 in the Class A finale. Mya Babbitt scored 30 while teammates Cora Olsen and Khloe Lemon both had 20. All three scored at least 500 points this season, and all 3 were 1,000-point career scorers. The trio is #1, #2, and #3 in the Millard South all-time scoring record books. They were a fun group to watch their progress throughout their 4-year career, culminating in a Senior season Class A State Championship. Unprecedented to do what they've done.1 point -

I watched her in the semifinals where she wasn’t tested. Extremely poised but she is very quick and in the open court has plenty of speed. She makes good decisions and makes her teammates better. NU must pull out all the stops to sign her.1 point

Obviously a lot to like about Britt’s game but I’ve been impressed with her court vision. A couple times she’s had the ball on the outside and saw a wide open teammate all alone in the post under the hoop and Britt fired the ball to her for the assist. Seems to be an unselfish player who wants to see her teammates succeed1 point

Iowa City’s weather isn’t any better than Lincoln’s, and Lisa Bluder is an absolute boss at recruiting talent and signing girls to go play there. I also refuse to believe that Iowa’s WBB facilities are better than NU (Hendricks Training Center and PBA)1 point

Watched her at the State tournament today. NICE. she spent the vast majority of the first half, working the ball in the half court, attempting to involve her teammates. In the second half, she turned up the heat and took her game full court. Wonderful to watch.1 point
