  1. I do not think it will happen. So much more to Frost being fired that what has or hasn't worked for Hoiberg. Incomparable human beings. One does not seem to have his personal life in order and it bleeds into all other areas of his professional life. One is just losing a lot of basketball games because it hasn't worked out for myriad of reasons, none related to his character. And... I think we're going to be really bad this year so the opportunity will probably arise. But I don't see it happening until the end of the year.

It seems like these "rumors" are always brought up for nearly every fired coach or in Bill Moos' case, AD. I wonder really just how much merit they have. I've always looked at them as kind of stories told by a bitter ex after the breakup...

You're starting to hear stuff come out publicly about how mediocre of a job Frost was doing that makes the decision to fire him less of a question about why we didn't wait until Oct 1st and more of a question about how lucky was Frost to still have a job this year.

  4. I'm not yet prepared to dance on a coaching grave quite yet. Am I optimistic about an uber successful basketball season? No; but I am willing to give it a chance. That said, I am still upset about Scott's failure. I thought he was going to be the answer; I really did. It was the right call to fire him, yet I have mixed emotions. As to Fred, he now knows, if he didn't before, that it is win or else. Money is not the issue. The clear expectation is to win, or your gone. He has made, what appears to be, some good choices as to the coaching changes, the player changes, the style of player, the re-emphasis of discipline and defense. My hope for Fred is the same as it was for Scott. It didn't work out for Scott, but I can still hope it works for Fred.

  6. I wasn't surprised once we lost another close game to Northwestern it was "when" will Frost be fired and not "if" during the season. Looking back it makes sense that he failed after 1 real good season at UCF and some of his comments that showed some ego. Fred is a little more baffling IMO guy brought in some of the best players on paper in school history, won on a big level, etc and yet arguably has been worse than Frost.

  7. Now that we know Trev is willing to fire a coach mid-season, I'm hoping Fred's team gets off to a good start.

Yep, I absolutely agree with this. That was the moment I checked out on Frost for good. It was obvious that he was severely overmatched as a coach at this level on that day. I also remember thinking how hilarious it was when the CU students rushed the field after beating us in OT, like, these people wouldn't know a good (or in our case horrible) performance by a football team and coaching staff if their lives depended on it! They had no business celebrating like that, they should be ashamed it took them overtime to beat us. They were only celebrating because it was *Nebraska*.

He should have had to find his own way back from Boulder. It was clear then by looking at the coaching performance and looking at the future schedules that four straight losing seasons were going to happen.

Based on what I know about the journalism professor and the reporters in the market, I'd be surprised if they didn't reach out for a comment, but I would also be surprised if Coach Frost or Matt Davison gave a comment. But if they did, what exactly would you expect them to say...?

My understanding is that "they" wanted to. But other people in power put an end to that conversation. Or advised against it. Edit: Also worth adding that my distain for not waiting 10 days to save $8M pales in comparison to the renegotiation of terms to drop the buyout. Still think it wasn't worth cutting before the deadline but we have saved a good chunk of change already.

NU's always had that, even before NIL, they've just made bad coaching hires, or at least, not as good as they could have made.

  16. As always, it depends on how it looks. If they look like a competent basketball team and is getting better, it might be something Trev is willing to see through. Football was such a dysfunctional mess, that there was no other choice. Hopefully they'll be able knock off a couple high major opponents early in the season to jump start things a bit.

In the age of NIL, Nebraska has re$ource$ that will allow for recruiting advantages that makes our job look a little bit more... appealing....

I gotcha, but for the record, you did say that... Also, I wasn't quoting you, I was quoting someone else who took your side after you posted the ISU job was the better job... But I'd agree that their program is healthier right now. Get the right hire, and that would flip pretty quickly, I think.

    ESPN Invitational

I highly doubt this event will approach being sold out. That gives you three options 1. Buy tickets for all the sessions and try to sell the ones you aren't going to attend 2. Try to buy tickets from someone selling single session tickets 3. Eat the games that you might not make I think you'll be successful with #2 but it just depends on how comfortable you are buying tickets off of Stubhub, etc

Sure, there may be aspects of ISU that are better than NU. But as a whole NU is a better job. Hell by conference affiliation alone I think you could make the argument that every Big Ten job is better than ISU.
