Damn you KU. Damn you all with Chalk and Rock et al!

I'll be a lot more concerned when he schedules visits to Virginia or Michigan St as they actually have scholarships available

KU can boot somebody off the roster just as easily (or so it seems).

Virginia and Mich St have open scholarships though. If you already had everything lined up for a free trip to Kansas, why not take it though?

I don't know about you guys, but I keep checking the thread every hour or so hoping to see that he's N.

You mean you have the willpower to wait a whole hour?!?!

Nice play trickey!   (That deserves a double green-arrow - too bad they don't have one)  :D

I hope he verbals soon, my toes are cramping from walking with them crossed.

I know it's a funny joke but all scholarships were accounted for last year. There was just two years of self imposed scholarship.

Pretty sure we only had 12 scholarship players last year unless you are counting Menke.

We didn't use them all last year

I thought for sure we gave it to Menke again but apparently not.

I get the opportunity to coach baseball...but the following is true in recruiting as well.  That is: in order to hit the ball, you must first swing the bat!

We are in the process of taking our hacks.  I hope that very soon, we will catch up with a fastball or two.

And Nolan Ryan is pitching...

Menke was on a schollie the past couple of seasons, and he helped boost the team APR in the process. Kye Kurkowski didn't have a schollie, though.

Or a hanging curve ball...

Thats what I thought.  Menke would've made it 13 last year then in that case.

The Kansas Phog message board on basketball (a freebie) has a 9 page string on Chukwu. Here is a post from 2:52 o'clock this afternoon showing how weird all this recruiting stuff gets:

"Re: Paschal Chukwu Leaving Providence

2:52 PM

Is there actual confirmation that he is actually on campus? This seems like a whole bunch of useless speculation until that is confirmed."

No one has responded to that post as of yet (3:35 p.m.).

To me giving the last scholarship to a walk on is not the same as "using" all your scholarships.  Unless of course, that walk-on player turns out to be a solid contributor on the court.

The scholarship was open for the fall semester of the 2014/15 season.  Miles held on the open scholarship until the very end of the semester in hopes of landing a spring semester transfer.  When that didn't pan out, Menke was given the scholarship for the spring semester because it was clear it would go unused otherwise.  With that said, this all seems moot.  We all know that the scholarship was not originally "saved" for him, it just happened to be "open" once again and therefore was given to a walk-on rather than simply being wasted.

2014-15 (Senior)

Menke provided depth in the backcourt, as he appeared in seven games during his senior season. His hard work on the Husker scout team was recognized when he was put on scholarship for the spring semester.  Menke, who finished his career with one turnover in 95 career minutes, totaled three points in 13 minutes of play, hitting a 3-pointer against Omaha on Nov. 25. In Big Ten action, he made four appearances and played a season-high three minutes against Iowa on Feb. 22.

Thanks for the clarification, it was 'used' for 1/2 the year anyways.

Nothing is ever wasted on Trevor Menke.

I am going to guess that Trevor Menke is the most talked about walk on player that never played more than 100 minutes in Nebrasketball history on this board.

Great kid by the way.

HOW DARE YOU FORGET MIKE FOX AND THE STACHE!

*I just looked it up and he played 222 minutes his JR year--color me shocked.

Fox saw quite a few minutes during a good stretch of that season.... Paul Velander was the walk-on extraordinaire. He was a regular 3-ball shooter in the rotation for a couple of years.
