Heard Robin drop the May 18th Spring signing deadline date.

Ok question here. So does that date mean anything? I mean, can't he just decide on a school a couple days before classes start, enroll there and go? Or is it different for incoming freshman versus transfers where we see a guy like Andrew White wait and wait and wait before he decides?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's just a date. He technically doesn't ever have to sign a letter of intent - he could just show up at a school on the first day of fall semester or enroll for summer classes. Although he'd be taking a chance at that point, hoping the school he's considering doesn't get tired of waiting for him and fill all of its scholarships. All the letter does is bind him to the school and guarantee the scholarship, I believe. Enrolling at a particular school before signing makes the letter unnecessary, like a football player graduating early and enrolling before signing day in February.

It's possible that the end date for the spring period has some significance in the NCAA by-laws, but I don't know what it would be.

I'm not sure how getting thru the NCAA clearing house would work if a player doesn't sign a letter of intent. And he'd have to be accepted by the school academically, although he could apply to any school he wants at any time, just like any non-athlete student. Early enrollee football players deal with it, so I'm sure it's not that tough to work around.

Not saying that Jordy deciding after May 18 will happen here, but he hasn't been in any hurry thru any of this, so it could happen. (Hopefully he just does the smart thing and picks NU at some point soon. I have 3 p.m. May 16 in the pool.  ;) )

Jordy and most big guys we will be in on are projects, something is keeping them from being sought after by the blue bloods. We were in on some good players but the center spot is the hardest to recruit for a reason. Most big time post players need time to develop their body. Unfortunately being 6 11 isn't normal so time can help fill out a body. Who knows if Jordy will be good or not, it's up to him and his genetics.

Exactly, but it's better to get the big guys in and see what happens.

Can he just commit so i can stop checking this everyday..

I'd love for it to happen today, but I see it dragging out until the end. Then again I could be wrong and he song the phone with miles right now.

Was this is reference to my post? You tend to reply to posts while never using the quote feature so it's hard to tell when it's a reply or if it's just unrelated. If it was related to my post, I was talking about Link.

I see it dragging out too, and we're gonna look to be in good shape until out of nowhere LSU or South Carolina or some other God-forsaken kudzu-growing hellhole comes in and offers him and he commits almost on the spot.

I suspect that there is a scholarship at Minnesota that will become available soon - perhaps after the school year ends.  That may or may not be the hold up here.

Wow, such profound wisdom.  What ever would us rednecks do without having an obsessed recruiting guru grace us with his presence?

Is his brother a decent enough of a prospect that a scholarship offer would be worth it if it meant getting Jordy?

Depends on what his injury was...the guy was putting up decent numbers and at the very least seems athletically capable of playing at this level. We might owe it to those guys to take a another look at him but it's a disservice to us and to Link if offering him additionally is a condition.

i'm not totally against the idea given that we have left a spot open for the last 3-4 years.

would miles really be able to find 2 prospects on this short of notice that are better than the combo of jordy and link?

if you agree with future150.com that jordy is a 4 star top 100 player, then you probably would be ok with bringing in his 7 foot brother for 2 years.

Kind of what I was thinking. And like mentioned earlier, he was putting up decent numbers in JUCO before he got hurt.

Unless the coaches know something we don't (and we should hope they do!), I agree that an offer to Link to make them a package deal seems like a no-brainer. Especially if it looks like we will not be using our final scholarship once again. And we also have to worry about AW3 leaving another scholarship open.

Well no Jordy commitment as was predicted earlier in the thread. Sigh.

Patience grasshopper... No inside here, but maybe let the new coach have his day and Jordy here this weekend?!?

Jordy was in Lincoln last weekend.

Was meaning a commitment.

Quoth Tom Petty, "the waiting is the hardest part."
