huskerbaseball13 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I like it. Top 200 ranked players and top player in Iowa. The minimal video I've watched he can play stretch the floor as a big. LSEHusker 1 Quote
Brandon4Real_X Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I didn't even know we were recruiting this kid. Not sure that's how I wanted our first 2015 recruit. Nebrasketballer 1 Quote
gobigredbrah Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 you think this has something to do with ed morrow? Maybe miles doesnt feel comfortable that NU can land him so he took jacobson. BugeaterZ and Nebrasketballer 2 Quote
LSEHusker Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 If coach miles and the staff liked him enough to give him an offer then im fine with it. Silverbacked1, jdostal, jaimes2000 and 1 other 4 Quote

Nebrasketballer Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 This really worries me about the current state of Nebraska's recruiting. I really thought they were in a much better place than they obviously are... jdostal 1 Quote

Huskerinexile Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Well I guess this answers some questions about how well we are going to recruit the 2015 class. Hard to get too excited about this. I thought we left the Collier, Sadler recruiting world behind? No way he is a starting Big Ten player for the upper division. He is committed to Iowa/Iowa St right now if he were good enough. I don't get this at all unless we think were gonna whiff on some other "guys we're in on". AJW3, Morrow, et al seem like entertaining stories until they sign somewhere else. atskooc Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Yeah, this dude isn't an inside player (at least not in the video I've seen). He can stretch the floor pretty well, and he's got a nice looking shot. I'll let Norm break his form down a little further. Quote
bball23 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Don't we have like 5 spots open next year? Why do people assume we can't still get some of the other guys? Unless my math is just GOD awful I still think we have 4 openings left. If Miles and staff see something they like in this guy, then that is all I need to know. Some of you are the same people that were writing off Petteway 2 weeks into the season last year. Dean Smith, jdostal, Cell and 2 others 5 Quote
Fullbacksympathy Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Nothing wrong with a stretch 4 option. Infinitely different skill set than Morrow. Also, he's a coach's kid, book smart, and already weighs 220. He'll be fine. Not a star, but a good role player. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

HuskerBBall Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Not saying Jacobson will end to be the same caliber of player, but I'm just saying there was recently another 6'8" 220 lb coach's son from Iowa without any big offers who turned out to be pretty good.... http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/undervalued-in-high-school-doug-mcdermott-is-now-thriving?urn=ncaab,wp6693 Let's reserve judgement please. hhcmatt, jdostal and LSEHusker 3 Quote
ballgame Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 We're not going to get five Top 100 players. Frankly, I'd rather have some 4 year players who are from the region than some of the transfer / foreign / JUCO guys we could end up going after. jdostal and LSEHusker 2 Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Only gots one offer from a power conf school and dude nabbed it. Sounds similar to your boy Patton that has only one offer period and still has a ton of work in the classroom left to get done. At least Jacobson is for sure playing D1 next year. jdostal 1 Quote

To be fair Doug was playing second fiddle to the nations best high school player. He was overshadowed big time. If he plays on another team it's possible he stands out more and it's a different story. 49r 1 Quote

Some of you are the same people that were writing off Petteway 2 weeks into the season last year. I am OK with the signing and I don't have a perfect memory but I don't think anyone was writing off Petteway. There were legitimate questions raised about things such as shot selection which pretty much everyone involved including Petteway acknowledged. Solving such major issues as team chemistry is one of the many reasons I feel Miles has proven his judgement can be trusted. So I hope for the best with the signing and try to stay grounded in reality. 49r 1 Quote
