I've been thinking about this as we've made this (magical) run to the very front of the bubble verging into lock territory.

And the answer, I think, is that we will dance well for the same reasons we've been successful in our conference schedule.  We do many of those things well that successful tourney teams do:

1.  Wicked defense.  Better on the perimeter and stopping penetration than manning up against an opposing big, but still wicked defense.  And we generally help well, although this is where we typically give up easy shots -- when we fail to recover and close out shooters after we doubled the post.

2.  Ball security.  We don't turn it over a lot.  Especially after we solidified the roster earlier this year.

3.  Points in the paint.  We get to the rim.  We have two guys who are basically equally adept at driving to the basket.  Now, B1G teams have had all season to scout us and they have tried in various ways to take the dribble drive away from us.  But we got there nearly at will against a very tough Wisconsin team.

4.  Length.  With Petteway and Shields, we have two 6'6" to 6'7" guys who can handle the ball, penetrate, shoot from long range, defend, switch on ball screens and make it difficult for little guys to shoot over.

From the time brackets are announced, whichever team draws us won't have a lot of time to break down our film (will they even have huddl?) and game plan for us.  We're a bit under the radar because few people if any expected us to get to this point.  And I think people are going to have trouble with us.  We have two guys who can legitimately get to the rim and finish as well as hit shots from long-range.  Most teams are lucky to have one guy like that.  We have two.  I think we're a Cinderella waiting to happen.

Don't know. I think if the site is neutral (as in San Antonio playing UCLA) we should be OK. But if we wind up playing what is effectively an away game, then it is tougher. The B1G tournament will be a good training ground for the Dance. And I like it that we have a coach who has been there and done it before. We can handle the bruising inside OK but we will need good guard play and I wish we had a more natural point guard. Finally, if I were an opposing team, I would study the Illinois game film carefully to see the right way to defend us.

I guess that settles it then.

My biggest fear is playing a great 3pt shooting team.  I feel like we give up a lot of open looks and then try to rush to the other end and answer.  That's how games get ugly.

How good is twerking? Because that is what Kent Pavelka says we're going to do.

Surely twerking is good enough for one win. I mean its not ballroom dancing, but twerking is better than some of the other dances I've seen.

This. Foul trouble worries me. Rebounding concerns me as well a couple even last night. I honestly believe that will be our issue when our season ends. That game wilkbbe a game of second and some third chances for the opposing team on the offensive end for them due to poor rebounding.

Hope I am wrong

Didn't know where to put this, but was browsing the Illinois board and they thought their resume was better than ours until Sunday, and they think 2 wins gets then on the bubble, and a third probably a lock.

Was there any truth to the report that a current or former (can't recall which) Creighton basketball player made his way to PBA for the Wisconsin game?  And, if so, was or for us or agin us?

Nick Bahe was there if that is who you are referring to. I imagine he was for Nebraska but was likely just there because it was a huge game and fantastic environment.

Illinois fans think pretty highly of themselves

Well, I'd love for the Illini to beat Indiana & Michigan to set up a semifinal matchup [w/ NU over OSU] so we can settle it on the court in Indianapolis!

Bringing it back to how we do in the tourney, why wouldn't someone just zone us and dare us to shoot. It seems like we score an absurd amount driving into the paint. I'm sure someone has our offensive efficiency numbers against man vs zone, those would be interesting to see.

Give them credit...they are close!

With 4 wins they are a lock.
