Who would you take on this team?

If you could take only one of the following and insert them into this year's lineup, who would you take to make the biggest upgrade?

1) Piatkowski

2) Lue

3) Maric

4) Hamilton

5) Strickland

6) Hoppen

Would adding your choice above make us an NCAA tourney team?

Close call between Hamilton and Hoppen. This team needs big banger. I think that Hamilton was a better defender and rebounder than Hoppen but Hoppen a very good scorer. With our scoring droughts I would choose Hoppen in a close call.

Even though Piatkowski is my favorite player, this team needs a big so you'd have to go with either Hoppen or Hamilton.

with Pike we wouldn't need a big guy. it would be raining threes. and the guy could finish in transition as well as any player we ever had. I'll go with Pike.

Agree a big man would be the logical first choice.  I would favor Hamilton over Hoppen, just because I would favor the guy with superior rebounding skills.

Another name not on your list that I'd love to have on this team - Andre Smith.  A guy from Chicago that was tough as nails.  A 6'7' player who played like he was 7'0.

Even Fort would help as it would give us someone that could shoot from outside on a consistent basis.

Ubel would be a big help - Eliason would be a significant help for this team this year too. 

 

To stick with the original list, have to go with size for this team. Maric & Hoppen were great players, but I think Hamilton's skill set would've fit better a little better with this team and the way Coach Miles wants to play.

Adding Ubel would not gain us any more wins than we have now.  I'd have to go with Pike as we are lacking a sharp shooter from behind the arc that can consistantly make it. Adding one player to this team would not make us a tournament team but it would certainly get us closer.

I think Ubel would have helped us to another win or two at least - he certainly wouldn't have to be counted on to score like he did last year, but his ability to play post defense and rebound would be a big benefit to this team, such as in the Michigan game when we were continually hurt by their bigs on the pick and roll. Plus having someone like Ubel on the roster would allow Pitchford to slide over to the 4, where he'd be much more comfortable defensively.

 

I don't know that Ubel was ever completely comfortable playing the 5 like he had to during most of his time at NU, but even so he would absolutely improve this team at that spot.
