Washut says UCLA is "loaded" this year. I'm not sure about that. Bilodeau is their best offensive player and they rely on him a lot on that end. We saw him last year in Sioux Falls. Pretty good player, but he didn't move the needle much for that Oregon State team. The interesting thing is all of their rotation players (minus Kyle, he won't be playing) were below average to decent players on pretty bad teams last year. Dailey (OK State), Johnson (USC), Clark (Louisville) and four UCLA returnees.

Seems like the key to this Bruin team, rather than being loaded with talent, is they have total buy-in to Cronin's system and culture, which is very important for any Cronin team. They're a top 5 defense right now. They're going to try to keep us out of the lane and encourage us to shoot threes and long twos. Much like our defense. But they'll pressure our ball handlers so limiting turnovers is a must. I think it'll be a close game but I can see a version of this game being a 15 point win for either team, if the winning team happens to get hot and make 12+ threes.

Bilodeau leads the team with 17 made threes. Nobody else has made more than 15. They've played 13 games.

I'm glad we get them in Lincoln and don't have to go to Pauley Pavilion this year. Home court advantage will be big in this one.

68-62 Huskers.

A big part of that is that he's playing with better personnel, specifically instead of having to the 4 alongside Oregon St's collection of stiffs he's at the 5 where he gets a lot of mis-matches on the perimeter.

They're loaded in the sense that Cronin got so much NIL money they could tell Berke to leave because they're bringing in better guys.  Thus far they look like a top 4 team in the conference though i'd agree that they aren't unbeatable.

I'd argue Jordan Pope, Oregon St's best player last year, is significantly better than any of UCLA's guards offensively. He's playing very well for Texas this year. They also had Rataj on last year's team, who is a really good and versatile frontcourt player.

I'm sold on the Bruin's defense. Guess I'm just not sold on them overall. Hopefully they don't change my mind tomorrow.

It really is too bad we can only get 2 guys from the last decade to come back for the game.

Why is it too bad? Did you go back to your 10 year class reunion? They have more important things to do rather than hang with antique m.fers. The one I'm disappointed in not showing, especially with the arctic cold blast coming to the Lincoln parks this weekend is Christian Standhardinger.

It’s a fun Husker team against a top 15 opponent on a Saturday. It’d be cool to see them come back and be recognized. Has Petteway been back in the last 10 years? I don’t remember him doing so. Maybe he’s playing overseas but most former Husker basketball players aren’t busy playing pro basketball. Maybe I’m just too nostalgic.

Albert is the sole pre 1970 rep (unless my eyes are playing tricks).  Helps he lives a few blocks from the arena so traveling isn't difficult for him.

Been looking over UCLA's schedule and here are some things I've picked up on.

1. Their 11-2 record is a mix of buy game wins and winning a few bigger games both in and out of conference.

2. They do host wins over Oregon, Arizona and Gonzaga.

3. They don't tend to blow teams out or run away with games against good teams. The Gonzaga win was by 3, Arizona by 3, and Oregon by 2.

4. One of their losses (UNC) was by just 2 points. They also have a bit of an eye opening loss to New Mexico. But that was early in the year.

So nothing we don't already know really. Going to be a dog fight. Neither team will probably pull away. Look for a game that's always within 10 points either way. We can definitely pull this one out. We also can't afford to take them lightly.

First time we've been a home 'dog since Wisky last year - a stretch of 11 games

Looks like the home favorite streak will continue unless some late money comes in on UCLA.

I am seeing -1.5 to -2.5 in favor of the Skers and the total has taken a nice little dip to 132.5.
