North Dakota (8-4) vs. Nebraska (9-2) Game Thread

If either of the two Christmas break games are trap games… this one would be my pick.  (I don’t think either should be trap type games this year)

 

UND isn’t awful, but their record is pretty inflated with cupcake games. We’ll be just their 2nd Power 5 team that they played. (Iowa loss 110-68). In another common opponent game, they did lose by 10 to Fullerton (64-54).  However, they have pretty much beaten the non-Power 6 teams they’ve faced… including I think 4 wins away from home.

 

I anticipate this crowd to be worse than the one next week.  It’s still a school night for most, college is out and students are home, and we’re coming off an emotional road win and we’re back in the spotlight.  I can take my family and sit in the 100’s for less than I could to go watch a new Disney movie in theaters currently with secondary market prices.

 

It'll be a bring your own energy type

of game.  Hopefully we’re up for it.

They also have a transfer that just became eligible due to the recent court decision.  I believe he played well in his initial game.

Yes, we should win this game in the 20 point range.  Obviously if we play like unmotivated poop, and they play well, bad things could happen.

We are a veteran team coming off, arguably, our two best games; sooo...

The last time we played North Dakota it was Saturday night, Dec 21st, 2019 where we were favored by 10 and coming off a big upset of Purdue at home. Lost 75-74.

Unrelated to main topics being Lloyd or mast. We're approaching the mid way point of the season, and keita is still injured. I think giving him a medical redshirt at this point and letting him recover would be best. Hard to get ramped up in the middle of big ten play while not completely trusting your body.

Fred talked about that on Monday and said he's still progressing. They were looking to ramp up after Christmas and talked about needing him for Big 10 play though he did say that a redshirt was still in play. Talk about a medical redshirt at this point are completely premature because he hasn't taken his regular redshirt and you can't get a medical redshirt playing your under 30% of games at the end of the season.

Good point on regular redshirt. Would be in play in this scenario for sure. I just went to medical due to it being a medical issue. 

 

If they redshirt, I'd think they'll decide on it sometime in January. Depends how his ankle responds and how much he trusts his body

Seems really fluid. If he's able to make a contribution and we need him and it's the start of February, he might pull the trigger considering he did get that extra year.
