Really excited to see the continued development of Jamarcus. 12 assists vs 0 turnovers in the last 3 games

Jamarques deserves some love for sure. His shooting is still coming around, but he's over 71% from the FT line compared to last year's 38.7% rate. I knew he was better than that number from last year. I knew that would come around.

What I love to see with him is how fast he pushes the ball up the floor in transition. His handles appear to have improved significantly over last year. He's making good decisions and he's dishing the ball without being selfish. Which is what we wanted from a PG.

He's a guy who actually has the speed and handles to challenge defenses going to the rim. He just needs to finish better. His 3-point shot needs to start dropping a little more consistently. But if you look at just his 2-point shooting in the last 4 games (the first 3 were rough), he's hitting over 57% on his 2-point shots. That's really efficient.

And in those last 4 games, he's also dished 16 assists, grabbed 14 boards, and only turned it over 3 times. And his defense remains on point.

Cutting him some slack on those first 3 games while he's trying to settle into a new role, and it looks like he's becoming the PG we hoped he could become.

Lawrence has had Tominaga back for the past 5 games and Juwan Gary for 4. That certainly has helped with J.L. becoming more efficient.

Best starts in school history

1915-16 - 9-0

1977-78 - 8-0

1984-85 - 7-0

1992-93 - 7-0

2023-24 - 7-0

I was looking at the 2022 - 23 media guide, and they have the 1977 - 78 team starting 10 - 0.

Thanks, I updated it. I assume I had "first 8-0 team since 77-78" on my mind.

Huskers hired that same Wesleyan coach 8 years later.

I think the Nebraska media guide has incorrectly been referring to William G. Kline as "W. E. Kline" for at least the last 13 years.

I remember that '84-'85 start well.   Got all sorts of fired up.  Finished 16-14, 5-9 in conference, 1-1 in NIT.

And our next opponent has only committed 59 fouls through 6 games. 32 of those coming in 2 games.

And speaking of reffing "Chuckie the referee", that's what the guy across the aisle called him after he walked by, was at the game. John Higgins was sitting about 6 rows behind me.

At least 49 years.  In 1974-75 media guide, under the list of coaches he's W.G. Kline.  Under seasons, he's W.E. Kline.

I saw him Sunday too. Surprised he wants to go to a game in his free time. Has to be a good thing for the Skers though

Whelp, it was a guess. . . so that IS a weird one to have been wrong for decades.

From what I can tell at some point someone fat fingered the letter on the season by season records and eventually when they re-did the coaches by winning percentage instead of year they used the incorrect abbreviation.  To me the bigger mystery is when did  William Gordon Kline pass away? He was actually a law professor who ended up coaching and then wrote some sports books in the 1930s.  After that, doesn't seem to be any record of him in part because he didn't have any kids.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_G._Kline
