I agree. Energy can be lacking at times, especially if we are playing a school most fans (students included) haven't heard of and assume it should be an easy W. We certainly are not alone in this regard.

Back in Devaney, it was basically one continuous plane from floor all the way up to the nosebleeds. The guy in the row farthest from the floor could see the entire audience arrayed below him all the way to the courtside seats.

 

At PBA, there are four layers: the lower bowl; the luxury box level; the 200 level; and the 300 level.

 

And here's why that's a problem: All those levels are structural barriers between the crowd and the game. When you're up in the 200s or 300s, you feel separated from the event. It's almost like you're watching it on TV or something. It's hard to get into the cheering thing when you feel like nobody is going to hear you except the crotchety geezer who's going to complain you're standing in his way.

I can only speak from my own experience regarding this. When PBA opened my brother purchased two season tickets in the 300 level and I joined him for most of the games. I found that people around us had no problem getting into cheering. I think there were a couple of reasons for this. The first was there was excitement about moving into PBA and we had some good non-conference opponents, especially the opener. The second may have been an influx of new blood into the fan base in terms of in person attendance. It seemed that everyone near us were first timers in terms of season ticket holders and most lived outside of Lincoln (as did we) and were eager to support the basketball team. From my perspective it was a great atmosphere, even up in the rafters. And once the team went on their run in conference play, every game became bigger, ultimately turning the season into a special one. Unfortunately we didn't capitalize on this success the following year, but I digress. The point is the atmosphere in PBA can be special as we have already witnessed it be so.

Nowadays, nobody stands up. There's no point. People can't see you stand so no one follows suit. So, you remain seated. And that's also contagious.

Works in our section.  We have a couple sections that are pretty darn boisterous.   Pretty proud actually.

And it makes me wonder does Scotty McCreery regularly draw nearly 100,000 fans to his concerts? Or was this maybe the largest group he'd ever played in front of? A musical act can play whatever venue they want to try to fill. Anything from the Stuart Theater to Pinewood Bowl all the way to PBA. Does Scotty McCreery routinely book stadiums for his concerts? Or does he typically book smaller venues?

 

And if, perchance, it's the largest crowd he's ever drawn, don't you have to wonder if it was maybe the volleyball team that drew the fans?

Also relevant that all (or nearly all) the tickets were sold before they ever announced who the musical act was going to be.

It sure seems like Bryce comes back here alot for someone who came here from a distance and who only spent one year at the school.   Not complaining about that - but curious about it.  Does he still have a girlfriend here or does he simply like Lincoln that much.

Not aware of any type of partner here; but I do know he likes Lincoln and UNL.

Voodoo Priestess Marie Laveaux examined her magic crystal ball and concludes the girlfriend in Lincoln accepts that he might have a sidepiece in Charlotte, but the *GIRLFRIEND* in Charlotte has no idea about the sidepiece in Lincoln.

 

"Oh, baby, I'm just going to Lincoln to make an appearance at the football game. Y'know, former Husker great. Catch up with Keisei. See how he's doing. You know how it goes."

I can't believe that things like this happen with NBA players. I am shocked, shocked to hear of things like this going on.

 

I guess it does explain how my wife's son occasionally goes to Lakers games with a friend, that gets complimentary tickets in the Hoochie Mama section.
