I don't put much stock in the theory we are all living in a giant computer simulation...but then something like this happens again and I feel I could legitimately be in the simulation titled "How can we Fπ€K with Nebraska Basketball this year?!?"

I hope Fred's first call after this game is to Terrion Murdix if he's still available

Actually, nevermind. He's gonna sit this year to recover from injury. Call that Ball state guy who just portaled

Yes I would like to accept the international fees.

From what I read he said he would be ready by December 15th. Dude shattered his whole knee ala Joe Burrow,  so a 9 month recovery would be tight. Also, no guarantees he's the same player. Still think he's worth a flier.

Did your comment stop “a kid’s character get dragged” or did it increase further speculation of significantly more damning possibilities?

To clear this up for once and for all, I was told of this Ulis situation last Saturday morning by someone who didn't have specifics but wanted to know if I'd heard anything. Indicated it sounded like it could be a big deal. We could surmise it clearly wasn't weed.

I'm not going to steal that guy's thunder. If he wants to say something on the board, he can, but he hadn't, and it wasn't up to me to say anything, so I stayed quiet.

I would have remained quiet except @kldm64 speculated (or maybe had information) about weed. I knew that wasn't the answer, but a) it wasn't my story to tell; and b) I knew enough to refute weed but not supply any other specifics.

Again, I wouldn't have brought it up at all. I'm clearly not trying to gain some board cred by saying "haha, I know stuff you guys don't know."

For the third time: I hadn't said anything about it and wouldn't have said anything about it except someone else brought it up and posted information I knew was incorrect.

That's all. If someone wants to get his knickers in a twist over that, I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you.

That program was originally written in Fortran. Seems like it still works.

Neat, we won

OK, so we don't get to see the full team with some guys hurt and other guys playing for their national programs or ... other reasons.

But what we do get a peak at is Eli Rice might have been a real under-the-radar steal. CJ Wilcher is taking advantage of the opportunity. Williams appears to be a guy who can score.

And maybe this walk-on actually can play point for us. He might have to, so this is good to see.

CJ, Brice, Eli and Cale with back-to-back double figure games.

Haven't seen anything about Jamarques Lawrence, and Ramel Lloyd evidently dished 4 assists the first game, but haven't seen any scoring totals attributed to him.

I mean, if you're just going by what we know from the first two games, it sure seems like Cale is a kid who is gonna be in the rotation and possibly start. And Eli is showing himself well, too.

So apparently it wasn't the weed, then?

Well, I know for fact he was caught with weed but didn't know about the gambling.  What a multi tasker he is as can smoke weed and gamble at the same time.

JLaw had 14 pts in the first game before being taken out with cramps. Maybe didn’t play this one/reduced minutes?

Well, the first bad choice might have influenced the second  one.

These games just short of reveal tendencies, maybe.  We know that sometimes Lawrence scores in double digits and sometimes he doesn't.  Him not scoring double digits in an exhibition game doesn't seem out of the ordinary.  Feels like if Sam Hoiberg was playing he might have a couple of games with double digit scorings simply because he's shown himself to be an aggressive scorer.  I assumed that Brice Williams would score, especially with our lack of depth and his track record; he has.

What I'm taking away from these two games is that Cale seems to be more of an aggressive scorer and Lloyd not, an opinion that doesn't even have a box score to back it up. Cale being a more aggressive scorer than Lloyd certainly doesn't mean he'll play more than Lloyd or even much this season.

And with the amount of players out, you can’t really draw any conclusions on playing time.

my biggest positive for Cale is the “making big plays down the stretch” bit.  In games like this, scoring during the game could mean something, it could not.

But no matter if it’s regular season or summer pick up ball, everyone knows you give that little bit extra in a close game that’s in its stretch run.

Scoring--a lot--has always been a focus for Cale.  This is from his Huskers.com bio:

Before Nebraska
. . . He averaged 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 3.6 steals per game. Jacobsen set the Class C-1 state tournament record with a 43-point performance in a win over Kearney Catholic and was tabbed to the all-tournament team covering all six classes.  He finished his four-year varsity career with 1,481 career points, despite suffering a torn ACL in his first game of his junior season.

‘I’m great with that stat line from Ramel unless he shot it 15 times to get six points and turned it over 8 times. Hoping he is working on PG skills with AU probably out.

also Ulis bet on Iowa football not hoops, not clue if that matters
