It appears White is still not healed from his hip injury and would have to sit out this year anyway. if he had concerns about his playing time, why does he come to Nebraska where he will will have to compete with Roby, McVeigh, Morrow, and Horne (and possibly Jacobson)? If he was a guard, I could understand him wanting to come to Nebraska.

This class needs a big banger inside and a combo guard for next season. A guy with Whites talents would be more valuable in 2018-2019.

Yeah, I don't quite see this one either. White is good, but 4 is the one spot where we're loaded. McVeigh, Morrow, Horne and Jacobson already on the roster. Wouldn't he be a junior in 2017-18, along with Morrow, McVeigh and Jacobson?

Maybe he's quite a bit better than those guys, when healthy (i have no idea; I've never seen the guy play). And I'm not sure that grouping would qualify as "loaded" from other teams' perspectives. Like "wow, the guys they have at that spot are crazy good, what will we do?" I mean, I like our guys, and we've upgraded the talent, but we have to keep doing that in this league. Every year.

If he was quite a bit better, White would not be transferring. White is a good match for the Georgetown offense. I see him less as a PF and more as a poor man's Otto Porter (another Georgetown player). Porter parlayed his role at Georgetown into a lottery pick (granted Porter has struggled in his role at times with Washington and may be replaced by Kelly Oubre). That being said, I will defer to TheKamdyMan's analysis of White's talent.

My biggest issue is that we need more depth at G and C than we need anther F. Collecting talent is nice, but bringing a sixth guy to play amongst 2 positions does not make sense. Further that would give us 5 guys in the 2019-2020 senior class.

*6 guys in that class (2018-19) as you are probably forgetting about James Palmer. However, Robin said in his write up that Paul White is a no brainer for a medical hardship so that would put him with Roby, Horne, and Tshimanga if that is true.

There is no guarantee all of those guys will be here next year.

Even if it's collecting talent in some regards it's a no-brainer for what would be an used scholarship and there is no guarantee that Paul even stays past two years when he could potentially grad transfer.

I hope we're grooming Roby towards being a combo guard and that he has the skill set for it...that would solve some of our logjam problem.

According to a couple Georgetown posters he has not been healthy since suffering an injury the summer before his senior year of high school. Some guys just can't seem to avoid injuries. I'm no doctor but a hip/abdominal pelvic floor injury sounds tricky to rehab

That could be why he didn't blow me away when I watched him play 3 games his senior year when they came out here for a tournament.

Pelvic floor injury is tough. Check out this info:

Statistics state that as many as 1 in 5 Americans of every age suffer from some type of pelvic floor dysfunction during their life time (Stein 2010). When counseling a client with chronic, non-specific low back pain, groin pain, hip/pelvic pain after injury, surgery or athletic participation practitioners address the spine, hips and surrounding musculature omitting the base of support for all these structures – the pelvic floor. It’s proximity to the sex organs and impact on bodily functions makes it embarrassing for clients to discuss. However, it’s location in the lower bowl of the abdomen makes it an essential member of the core stabilizing lumbopelvic cylinder. Failure to address pelvic floor dysfunction after injury, surgery or repetitive athletic participation can result in continued spine and hip instability causing chronic back and pelvic pain and predisposition to additional spine, hip, neck, shoulder and lower limb injuries as well as impaired breathing and disruption of organ function.

Not a good injury to recover from. I once worked with a kid who just could never get this fixed. He even went to Germany for surgery. Never recovered or played again. Hope he's getting good treatment!

Btw, does it seem increasingly clear that Tim Miles's ideal basketball team is two forwards who are kinda of 2s, one actual 3, one forward who's kind of a 3, but more a 4, and one 4 who is kind of a 5 but not really?

What is the scoop on this guy? Heard he was in town this weekend on a visit and was checking out apartments. If granted medical hardship would have three years of eligibility left. Former top 100 recruit.

Surgery in a city park on a cold winters' night with a topless nurse. Hmm....

You're right, it's better than another open scholarship. Fill it and think of it as a lottery ticket. He gets healthy and he's a starter at some point. Just wish it was at another position.

Start at the beginning of this thread. I moved everything in here from the transfer thread

Unless he can prove he would have needed to sit out this season no matter what for injury he will only have 2 years left.  I know people keep saying 3 but since he played last year he gets that year back but hes transferring which means he loses a year.  You don't get a 6th year unless you can prove 2 seasons were lost to injury.  That said with the reports that isn't quite 100% yet could prove enough if they can show the rehab needed this year would have made him miss the season this year then he should get 3 years.
