Or maybe they've refined their act so well that they changed so quickly you never even knew they were the halftime entertainment... this is a definite possibility I think it was cool the first time or two; but that act doesn't seem to have staying power (like the Shim Shams). I'm a little bummed out we haven't seen the Oldest Living Plastic Chair Daredevil yet this year https://www.facebook.com/TheAmazingSladek3 points -

Yes, and back then you were old enough to drink at age 18, so me and Biff and Corky and a couple of our other greaser buddies snuck a six-pack of Schlitz into the old Coliseum and sat up near the rafters in the haze from all the old duffers smoking their Marlboros, and watched Wilt the Stilt lose. It started a long tradition of me being in the nosebleeds and I grew accustomed to looking down through the haze to try to see the floor. Except now it's clouds instead of cigarette smoke.2 points -
Most everyone had a bad year last year, even Shavon standing around on offense will do that. That was also one of our problems earlier this year with almost all of the players. Shavon is a great college player, but never going to be a very efficient one himself. Shooting efficiency is something you always need to look at using context as usage rate tends to drag that down. Shavon has always been a 45-50% eFG guy as typically the 1b option on offense. On a better overall team he would have been the 2nd to 3rd option I think. Looking at his KenPom overall offensive efficiency number that factors in things such as rebounds, turnovers, etc he's having his best year and it's better than either of TPs years based on that number. In context, Andrew White is blowing him away this year in terms of overall efficiency.2 points

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm as worried about needing another guard as I am about needing a big. Since we're in the private recruiting forum, I'll say I'm not convinced Bakari Evelyn is the kind of player that will help us compete at the top levels of the Big Ten that we aspire to. He's someone who might have had a spot on a Collier roster, but that's not the kind of player who will help us get where we want to go. I'll give him credit for having made some nifty passes. But I don't see him getting starters minutes any time soon. I think we need a shooting guard in the '16 class to go along with Roby and Horne. I also think we need a true center like a Jordy Tshimanga in that '16 class. So, if we could find another vacancy, I'd try to add two more players to this class. I think we need a good PG in the '17 class with Arop. Whether you really call Arop a guard or a forward, I think we need another point in that class at the latest. Corprew sounds like a combo guard who could play point like Tai Webster. Right now, from all I've seen, Corprew and Tshimanga would be my choices to fill out the '16 class, which would mean someone would have to move on. We have a glut of tweeners, guys who are somewhere in the middle between the guards and the centers. But you can't really field a team of wings and power forwards. You need to have some backcourt players and, hopefully, a post or two. Just my $0.022 points -
Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-8) vs Michigan St Spartans (13-6) Date: Wednesday, Jan 20th, 2016 Time: 5:30 p.m. CST Arena: Breslin Center, East Lansing, MI Capacity: 15,000 Broadcast Information Television: BTN Online: BTN2GO Announcers: Joe Davis and Jon Crispin Satellite Radio: Sirius (Ch. 83); XM (195) Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Matt Davison Michigan St Scouting Thread Michigan St Info Head Coach: Tom Izzo Location: East Lansing, MI Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Spartans Nickname: Sparty Last time out: Lost to Wisconsin Typical Rotation Depth: 7-11 players, depending on foul trouble Line: Michigan St by 14.5 Fun Fact: Miles has never lost to Michigan St by more than 10 points Tempo: Fast paced offense, grind you on defense Defense: Tom Izzo's pack defense Player to watch: Denzel Valentine The Senior All-American candidate leads the team in Scoring, Assists, and Steals while second on the team in rebounding. He's a triple-double threat whenever he steps on the court and he's one of only 4 Spartans (Magic Johnson, Draymond Green, Charlie Bell) to accomplish the feat. The Skinny This is a slightly pivotal game for both teams as Michigan State is in danger of losing three conference games in a row since 2013 and Nebraska is trying to prove that their improved play means they can beat someone that isn't in the cellar of the B1G. While both teams are a little down defensively, it's a point of pride for these guys to get back on transition and pack the lane so expect a mostly half court game with a sub 70 point potential, assuming this doesn't turn into a FT shooting contest. Both teams have been plagued by foul trouble in conference so unless the refs are heavy into offensive fouls tonight, aggressive takes will be rewarded. Both the Huskers and Michigan State have been great on both sides of the ball rebounding though you have to think that Michigan St and their girth advantage will have the upper hand tonight. The Huskers have a good chance to win the turnover battle tonight but I don't expect either teams to cough it up much. This is a game I'm tempted to pick the Huskers to win if Michigan St isn't on a skid...they had guys admit two years ago they didn't take us seriously. Look for the Huskers to hang with Michigan St most of the night but to come up short against a properly motivated team with Final 4 aspirations at home. did anyone else catch coach yori and matt on sports nightly tuesday night? maybe i am way off base, and feel free to correct me. coach yori was discussing rachel. to me, it sounded like rachel may have become really frustrated with the younger group in practice. seemed to be causing a little problem, therefore, rachel may have needed a little "attitude adjustment" (not starting). if true, hopefully it's all water under the bridge now. huskers need rachel to perform like rachel can. btw, it was a great interview with kendall clark. impressive young woman.1 point -

I'd probably chalk it up to good intent but poor planning. Nonetheless, I'm sure there's going to be a ton of media coverage bringing awareness to the cause during the game and (in Miles' words) "at the end of the day" that's all that matters.1 point -
Last time NU had a player finish a season at 6.3 boards per game (White's current number) or more was in 2012-13 with Ubel at 6.7 rpg. And if White can finish the season at 6.3, he'd have the second highest rebounding number since Maric's 10.2 in 2007-08. Pretty impressive. He's also in the Top 10 in the B1G in scoring and rebounding right now, 5th in scoring and 9th (tie) in rebounding. Only other players also in Top 10 in both are Valentine, who's 3rd & 6th, and Hayes, who's 8th & 9th (tie). In conference games only, he's 4th (tie) in scoring (18.5 ppg) and 2nd in rebounding (8.0 rpg). Certainly a small sample size at 6 gms, but wow.1 point

Why does Yori play Romeo??
redsteve reacted to kansashusker for a topic
The initial post on this string is silly. We have several very good freshman, but like most freshman around the country they have lots of things to work on to polish up their games as they prepare to play bigger roles on NU's team in the future. Chandler has the best college bball body of the freshman, and moves very well. Right now, she doesn't play more because she doesn't play hard all the time and takes plays off. she needs to tighten up her handles (dribble harder and lower) and put a little more arch on her shot. All 3 things are easily correctable and she will be a very good player for NU in the future. -- Natalie plays more than Chandler right now because she plays way harder and is more active. She isn't nearly as long as chandler, and right now she needs to work on getting in the paint to pass better to set up others for easy shots. She is a solid, but still streaky perimeter shooter. Earlier in the season she got to the paint some to try to score, but got a lot blocked because of the increased length of the college level post players. She too will be a great player for NU. She is a good enough athlete to get to the paint and pass, and will develop that as she progresses. Chandler and Natalie will play side by side in the starting lineup for a large percentage of their college careers if they both stay healthy.--Jasmine has a nice college build, and is versatile and will also be a good player. She needs to get herself in great shape and stay their. Right now she can go hard for a minute or two at the level they want her to play at. Going forward she needs to be able to play that hard for longer stretches so they can leave her in longer. -- Taking cheap shots on message boards at college kids is pathetic. yes several of out players had a hard time staying in front of Mitchell yesterday, including Natalie, but the kids leads the country in scoring for a reason -- she is damn good. Lots of quality players with way more experience than our freshman have been lit up by her this year also.1 point -
Well, that explains the motivation, I guess. It would seem Idaho could make his case for Chandler without attacking one of our other players. I have spent some time around Chandler, and I can't imagine she would be proud of Idaho's approach, despite his "being close to the family."1 point

Why does Yori play Romeo??

I disagree with your evaluations on both Romeo and Smith. Both will be good players for Nebraska by the time they leave here! And I'm glad our coach is getting them playing time and experience now so that they'll prove you wrong as we go forward.1 point -
You are spot on about Romeo. With the hype she had coming in I had expected a lot more. She is basically a very streaky 3 point shooter who really can't create much of a shot. She should never have the ball in her hands with the shot clock running down. But at this point, I don't think there is anyone else to replace her. Chandler Smith is another disappointment so far. Her shooting has been terrible so far this year. Maybe it will improve next year. Yeah... I know Smith had a huge setback with her injury and is finally starting to get healthy. I would take her over Romeo, though. Her defense and rebounding are much better. I believe her shot will come back with more playing time. I've been following the stats and Smith hardly shoots the ball... makes me believe there's a system in place where she's not supposed to shoot. I don't get Yori, though... especially if Romeo is not making any shots.... take her out and put in someone else that can rebound and play defense... Yeah, I sure see how you could "not get Yori", after 4 straight 20 win seasons, 4 straight NCAA tournaments, some conference championships, and a couple Sweet 16s. And a such an easy place at which to coach and recruit. Yep, "awful coaching and use of players". Of course, since you only have 4 flame posts and haven't been to any games, you may not even know that the 40 minute a game All American candidate ahead of Romeo is out for the year, and that we don't have unlimited options on the bench to play. Whatever, keep flaming.....1 point

I realize Romeo will get better with time and I hope she does. But if her defense is failing you might as well try some of the other players, right? Maybe its more of the coaching than her.... The game yesterday was pathetic. Ohio State is unranked are they not? Do you think we can play and be coached the way we did in the big dance? Oh and saying that taking cheap shots on message boards at college kids is pathetic?? This is not high school... These are grown women that play Division 1 basketball. What are message boards for if you can't state your opinion once and a while?-1 points -
