I like all of our players and appreciate their efforts, but I sure like what David Rivers brings to the team. He plays hard all the time. Also, my wife thinks he's cute. Go Huskers!

  11. I really like seeing Emily Wood get some good minutes. She broke a scoring drought that we had, and grabbed a couple of rebounds, and had no turnovers. I like this kid. Hear we have a scholarship available.

  14. Tim Miles is the guy no matter what happens this season anybody who does not think so need to stop being a Nebrasketball fan. What Miles said about the "Cool Kids" on the roster was great and telling on whats going on in the locker room..... I think this "Cool Kids" thing started after the Wisconsin game with one guy WALTER PITCHFORD that guy got way to high on himself and it has effected his game obviously. It sounds like to me he did not put in the work effort in the offseason like the other guys because he thought he was too "Cool" and thought he was a all-american. Now the slump has started and continues and instead of finding other ways to help the team he continues to shoot the ball as much he can to get the shot back that he had last season. The thing is tho thats great to try to get you mojo back in Threepointers but if they are not falling he needs to be man and help the team on defense or going for offensive rebounds or instead of jacking up threes post up in the paint and create lanes for Shields and Petteway. Walt wont do it because he feels his only game is from the outside and he continues to no help us this guy needs a reality check fast we need him more on defense and rebounding and scoring in the paint then outside shooting right now. So from what Miles was saying after the game I think points to Walter and I think Walter better hurry and change his game that help us or else when Leslee and Moses come back he will be on the bench for sure. This team still has alot to play for there is TWO really big wins we can get before conference play Cincy tomorrow and Witcha St (if we beat Hawaii). Remember this was the same team that was 8-10 going into the game against Ohio St at home and we pulled off MILES MAGIC and I think we can do it again and it starts tomorrow night you can not lose faith yet guys there so much basketball left.... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG REEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

    Lets talk about assists.

We did seem to have trouble finishing at the basket! (it does seem to even out: They make their FTs, they win handily! We finish at the basket, we win handily!)

  16. They could have saved some money and used 1 ref with a magic 8 ball Amazing. Mark Whitehead made the pre-game presentation to Benny and then went in, changed close and did a fairly average job refereeing the game.

  19. Last night was his first game with over 3 turnovers this year. The 7 turnovers were the most in his career and only his second game with more than four. He also was entrusted to get the ball up the court against Cincy's press most of the night. What is a ball trap?

  20. Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-3) vs Cincinnati Bearcats (6-1) Date: Saturday, Dec 13, 2015 Time: 8:00 p.m. CST Arena: Pinnacle Bank Arena Capacity: 15,000 Broadcast Information Television: BTN Online: BTN.com and BTN2GO Announcers: Cory Provus and Shon Morris Satellite Radio: Sirius (Ch. 119); XM (185) Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Matt Davison Sorry folks, a combination of sickness and commitments are going to make the brief. Cincinnati hasn't played a game since Dec 2 due to scheduling so who knows what they've been working on. They have a very tough interior team as always but lack the sort of outside shooting that has hurt the Huskers. Cincy has also lost several seniors from last year on what will be their first true road game of the year. A loud PBA Arena would rattle this team at some point. Expect a low scoring, tight game. Let's hope the Huskers lock down the paint regardless of the loss of Moses Abraham and grind out a victory. Prediction: Nebraska 64 - Cincinnati 60 with a 13% chance of Runzas Click here to view the article

  26. I can understand exclamation points after a two overtime win but I couldn't muster one for whatever you call what happened tonight. Big win yes. Huge problems if we drop three in a row but I repeat myself: I'm a fan of well played basketball and a nebraskaball fan. It's too bad I can't watch the two at the same time. After the week the players, fans, and coaches had it would have been a difficult loss to take. We really needed it. I liked some things I saw. Walt being the biggest. He has a bright future if he can bring it like that every night, and start hitting his shots. This team will go as Walt goes. Walt, Tai & David were all HUGE in this W. Props to the entire team for finding a way to score 1 more point despite horrid shooting & questionable ball handling & despicable officiating. GBR

There were a lot of heroes tonight, but none more deserving than David. He's carrying a big load with Leslee and Moses out. Thankfully, Walt picked up his game tonight.

  28. Coming off what we've seen the 2 previous games, NU's toughness was impressive tonight, even if the play was ugly. Very proud of the way the guys kept fighting and fighting. Considering how desperate things looked in both OTs, especially OT1, that win was a lot of fun. Offense was atrocious thanks to the turnovers; half-court defense was amazing, especially our defensive rebounding, considering we basically played 6 guys. A lot of guys showed a lot of toughness - I'm starting to think RIvers would only leave the floor if the broken bone is sticking through the skin - but I really loved what Walt & Tai gave us tonight. Those two have taken a ton of criticism this season - and some of it deserved - but they both played hard-nosed basketball tonight. What Walt did in 48 min against that athletic and aggressive front line was simply amazing - what a turnaround. Those two may hold the key to NU turning this thing in the right direction in B1G play. We generally know what we're getting from the other 4, but those two are the wild cards. I'll take that kind of effort and toughness - win or lose - versus the tentative disaster we saw the past 2 games any day. That said, winning is a lot more fun. Any guesses on odds of a team winning with a 3-to-22 assist-to-turnover ratio? I'd guess no other D-1 team wins a game with a ratio that bad this entire season, yet somehow we found a way.

Just saying aesthetically that may be some of the ugliest athletic contest (still can't force myself to refer to that stuff as basketball), I've seen and it's basically the way things have looked every time the Huskers have taken the floor this year. I was so excited when I heard that Coach Miles used the motion offense. I wonder if we'll ever see any of it?

  32. Still a lot to be concerned about but tonight isn't the night to talk about that. Rather, our kids battled and battled and went 50 minutes with just seven guys. And really, four guys played nearly the whole game. They played through sprains and eye cuts and fatigue and through some VERY questionable officiating to GET THIS DONE. In the first ten minutes, they appeared as if they were playing for their lives. As fatigue set in toward the end of the first half and the rest of the game, it was tough to fend off Cincy, but they did it. Very nice win tonight. All you can do from here on out is one game at a time, play as hard as you can. Was surprised Miles didn't go to the zone in the first 17 minutes of the second half. It had been nice in the first half and got a few stops when Rivers went out with the eye cut. Rivers was HUGE. HUGE. HUGE. Pitch played better and tougher. Tough night for Shavon and Terran with the ball in their hands. Saw some nice things from Tai tonight. Parker sloppy. Overall, a nice night and a big win.

  39. If Pitchford brought this effort every game, this team would be much better. He's played great defense inside, has boxed out like a beast, and went to the ball on rebounds. 9 points and 8 boards with 11 minutes left. WTF is the Cincinnati coach complaining about. His team reaches and grabs more than Ohio State did with Craft on the team. It must suck when the other team is allowed to do that too.

If this is who I think it is....you the real MVPIt is. That cop was so damn full of himself. And I'm pretty sure he is a jaysker. That's the same cop that tossed me after a game was over (for trying to get my coat and blocking the walkway for the ref) and took the whale from us during beach night. Dude is a massive dick and needs to chill the fuck out.Pre-gaming all day tomorrow? Poor whale. And absolutely. Going to be a long day of pre-gaming. Our house in the morning, bloody mary's. N Zone somewhere around 1 or 2. Be sure to invite Karl Hess next time... that guy needs to loosen up.

  43. Nebraska may have 9 losses on the year, but they also have played the most difficult schedule. I'd venture to guess that this team is better prepared for the post-season than any team out there. Hopefully the middles have another great night for Big Red!!

  44. A little harsh on Petteway. Actually, a lot harsh. You must not have watched the IW game. HIs shot selection was much better. So were his decisions on the drive in transition, to avoid the charge. He is the least of our problems. Interesting take on Webster, that runs contrary to virtually everyone else on the board. Other than horrible outside shooting, numerous defensive mistakes, and bad turnovers, you might be right. And oh yeah, the part about taking it to the hoop more: You think other teams don't have him figured out and won't allow that? When you can't shoot from 5 feet and beyond, teams will sag and take away the drive. Teams aren't even guarding him now from outside. Tai can improve the defense and turnovers. Not sure about the shooting, as we are 2 seasons into that at this point. I believe Petteway had about 4 assists and 4 rebounds before he took a shot in the IW game.

  46. Petteway better watch his mouth. He is one who definitely is buying in to his own hype. Chucks up shots like there's no tomorrow. Turnover machine. Webster needs to take it to the basket more. He should be getting more minutes.

  47. I think Lee nailed it on the head this morning. Especially regarding what is going on in the player's minds right now. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/barfknecht-magic-carpet-ride-hasn-t-cured-all-ills-for/article_d824631c-0100-505b-80a5-ac64688d981f.html Internet experts tell me the problem is big heads from too much preseason praise. I think the opposite is true. These players want to win so badly and to prove last year wasn’t a fluke that they appear paralyzed in fear of making mistakes and disappointing the fans.

  48. There will be a guy tomorrow at Ideal Market in Lincoln cooking all beef hot dogs and polish dogs in front of the store from 10 to 2. He also will be selling some beef jerky. The guy loves Nebraska Basketball and will be wearing a Husker cap. If you get there before noon, he might be sober.....
