Sorry, but I just really can't stand the Maryland pretty boy.

I'll get it out of my system, eventually.  Like as soon as MSU wastes them tomorrow.

I hear ya, Normy. And I actually like Mark Turgeon. Some of his players, not so much. If Maryland hadn't started the game 10 for 11 on three's that game very well could have gone slightly differently. Oh well, on to Vegas or CBI. Either way, keep on keeping on for Shavon & Benny!! GBR

Maryland was very smug throughout the night.  But in reality, they simply lit us up in the first half.  Not sure the exact reason our defense disintegrated, but I am sure our legs were dead.

Loved our come back and fight though.  I am with Norm as to my disdain for Mr. Layman.  But...I will give the jerk credit, he had a great game tonight.

I really am not a fan of teams with losing records getting post season bids... but hey we don't make the rules we just play within them. With the added experience for the young players and sending off Shavon and Benny with a post season tourney I guess I can bite my tongue.

Maryland shoots 60 % from the field and hits 13 3's, and we have the game within 6 with a minute left, force a miss from 3, and a really bad foul call to keep us from getting a rebound, and a chance to cut it to 4 or possibly 3.

Suliaman is right up there with Layman as one of my least favorite players.  Actually, out of their whole team Melo is the player I like the most.  Kind of scary.  That stunt Sulliman pulled with 1 second left was bush league.  I kind of wish he would have dunked it.  I think we might have had a nice little brawl going.

If Maryland just shoots like they did in the 2nd half, we might have had a chance to win this game without a furious comeback.  They went 15-30 from the floor and 4-12 from 3.

Webster, Shields, Watson, White all had good tournaments.  Shield avg. 19.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.0 APG.  White 17.0-3.7-0.3, Webster 14.7-4.7-1.7, Watson 10.7-2.7-2.7

We finished with more blocked shots than Maryland.  We had 5, they had 2.

It sounds like everyone wants to keep playing.  Let's hope we get an invite to the CBI.  Didn't Oregon win it a few years back, and now they will most likely be a top 5 seed in the tournament.

Oregon will be a 2 seed for sure. Another unpopular example would be from the same year. Creighton lost to Oregon in the CBI finals that year and went to the NCAAs the next year. One cannot emphasize enough how important it would be for this young team to get more experience and a taste for post season play.

Replacing Shields and Parker might be more difficult than one might think.

shields will be tough, but i like the guards we have coming back.

glynn, tai, and anton are a great trio of guards to have for next year. maybe bakari improves and adds even more depth.

It always seems hard to replace senior leadership at the time.  But then the next class are senior leaders.  I think we are a net gain in relation to our competition.  I really admire Parker and how he became an effective player for us.  He played an important role on the 2014 dance club.  But at the end of the day, he is very replaceable.  Shileds not so much.  But we won't sacrifice a tremendous amount of talent at the position.  I expect Webster to be a bad man next year.

The importance of these two players cannot be easily expressed. They have laid a great foundation for future teams on how to conduct yourself on and off the court. They are great students and stay out of trouble. On the court they work their butts off and never give up. As long as this stuff transfers onto future teams Nebraska basketball will be in great shape. I am confident that it will bc I believe Tim Miles has recruited high character players that happen to be pretty good too.

We will be able to replace Shields and Parker.   We may not have a guy that goes for 16.7 a game like Shields...but Gill will step in and be more than productive.   Parker played well these last two games and was very good last night.  But let's not forget how mediocre he was all year.   Finding an undersized player who can't shoot isn't hard to do.   The biggest thing for me is that we won't have as many empty minutes next year as we did this year.   Our freshmen will be more experienced.  We won't have an offensive liability like a Parker on the floor.

Loved watching Shields....but the combination of Gill, experience, added talent and added depth will replace him.

I think it's very possible for us to have the best 1-3 group in the big ten. We will be better next year but the 4-5 spots is what will make the difference between NIT or NCAA and maybe even a run in the tourney.

Um.... taking the violent theme here Norm?

Haha yeah...I can understand his anger/hate. Been there. But unfortunately, #idonthatelaymanihatecreighton . Really like this terps team, I was a huge fan of them before they moved conferences. Can't wait to see them with their dancin' shoes on.

One would hope not, considering they must be replaced and Nebraska must do better as a team than it did with them on it.

I'd think White, Webster and Watson get better and Gill/Roby bring some juice.

Hey guys not everything is just the on court stuff.

Will we be better next year without these two, maybe, but they will be missed when we need that extra push.

I think that is where it might be missed the most.

Do we come back in some of theses games without their leadership, probably not.

It is always tough to loose two guys who have played in almost 130 games each.

There were plenty of times where they were no where to be found when we needed that push this year.   Let's stop pretending the last 2 nights are an accurate picture of the entire year.

If you can't replace Parker....you are going to struggle.   We'll see a lot of increased production from our guards next year.  Shields is a very good player.   But he can be replaced by committee.

Possible. Michigan brings all its dudes back other than LaVert.

The team Michigan had this year is the team I think Nebraska can have next year, because I think Gill is a 40% 3-point shooter. If Gill can do that, that'll make it easier for Watson and Webster to "love the rim."

But Nebraska has to foul less, too.

Yeah, our 6 ft point guards need to stop manhandling the power forwards that are shoving them in the back.

I agree that we need fewer fouls and less foul trouble, but we also need consistent calls. When Shields gets hacked and runover on consecutive plays with no call, you can't call that foul on Watson and have any credibility.

This!  (although neither Shavon nor Benny were Miles' recruits ;))  Miles has upgraded the talent level and I believe we can all be proud of the quality and character of student-athletes he is recruiting.  thumbsup.gif
