  1. 1. Should we be using the Bon Jovi song "This is our House"

    • No man, no. Never, ever, ever, ever

    • As long as it just for random stuff like highlights after the half. If you have the team come out for this...why are you making us lame.

    • I don't really care/can't actually hear anything. Whatever kids, I'm just here to watch basketball

    • I don't care if Bon Jovi isn't "cool". I enjoy this.

Nebraska also will continue to use the Bon Jovi video that was used for the team’s entrance. Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi granted permission for the video, which features segments of his band’s “This Is Our House,” along with Nebraska basketball highlights.

The idea started as a cross-promotion for ticket sales to Bon Jovi’s Oct. 20 concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

“People absolutely loved it,” Boehm said. “We will be utilizing that as part of our branding piece for the basketball season.”

Here this thing is.  If you haven't actually heard it, I'd suggest you'd base your thoughts on actually listening to it rather than any positive or negative preconceived notion of Bon Jovi.

If there is enough backlash, I'll spearhead a social media war against it.

If people don't care or they like it, then I won't do anything because I won't have to.

FIRE AWAY.

Unfortunately, people ages 40+ are probably making the largest donations and are more likely to be Bon Jovi fans.

I would prefer to have an entrance that the players and students would love, but money seems to always win in these decisions.

I was not at the scrimmage...so help me out here.

Did they actually play this 3 1/2 minute version or a truncated clip?

The first would be way to long to wait and an awful  mistake.

The 45 second type would just be a bad choice.

At the end of the day...I would say...social media away!

I am over 40.  I dislike Bon Jovi...a lot.  But I like this specific song.  Could there be better...yep, but this one is fine, without the video though...IT WOULD BE MUCH, MUCH COOLER THOUGH IF THE ENTIRE CROWD WOULD SING ALONG...MUCH COOLER.

I actually wouldn't have a problem with it if I weren't afraid of it becoming another lame, BS "tradition" like playing Sirius for the tunnel walk.  Which I hate for so very many reasons.

One season?  Okay.

Forever?  Oh, HELL no.

It could be played earlier in the night maybe when the kids go in for the last time.

Don't mind it but like somebody else said not for them to come out to or for many years to come.

And in the end the kids are the ones who need to set it up, we need to back that.

I don't mind it.  It's topical.  This is our house and this is our time.  Maybe Bonj would record a version with some Husker-specific lyrics.  The complaint about Syrius was everyone used it and it'd been around too long.  If no one else uses this and Bonj made it kind of just for us, then why not?  It doesn't suck that bad.  Not everything has to be hip hop, which I would dislike.

It's horrid.  No (ok, very very very few) 18-22 year old D1 college basketball players want to come onto the court to a Bon Jovi entrance song/video.

Moreover, this is our chance to make Nebraska Basketball and the atmosphere associated with it legitimate, "cool," etc. and playing Bon Jovi for our entrance is nearly as bad as it gets.  Very "cringe worthy."

I'm sure some of you will completely disagree with me and don't think an entrance video matters, but as a 25 year old semi-recent college grad I can tell you with certainty that it does matter to a lot of people my age, most notably the student section (and the team feeding off the energy of the student section).

The Bon Jovi/Nebraska basketball experiment needs to be ended ASAP.

That's why I hope they talk to the players to see what they want, then get input from the Redzone.

Us old farts will just stand up and tell them to "turn that crap down, and get off my lawn" anyway.:)

I agree.  If for some odd reason the players and students are pro-Bon Jovi/Nebrasketball Experience then by all means use it..  I would venture to guess they'd be in favor of something a little more age appropriate for them, though.

Don't really have a problem with it.  It's a workable song.  It seems more like an anti Bon Jovi thing than anything.  The song itself works just fine.  You really think this song or any other is going to have any impact on the game when Michigan or Ohio State or Indiana comes to town?  C'mon now.

If you don't like good music like Bon Jovi, then stay home.  Your making a big deal out of nothing.  Anything has to be an upgrade from what we had at Devaney.  That is extremely lame.  I wouldn't even mind if they used Emimen's song "lose yourself" as that would be a great entry song.

I'm not completely sold on the Bon Jovi song but it could be worse. After seeing the UNL drum line perform prior to the 4th quarter of football games this year, I think we could somehow incorporate them into the beginning of games. They have a lot of fun performing and could really get the crowd involved.

A big yes from me on drums.

They did that a couple times last season.  Not sure why they stopped.

Everything about the new arena is first rate.  It's a new era with a rising star in the coaching ranks.  Recruiting is light years ahead of the Sadler era, and then the administration chooses to go with some Bon Jovi to usher in the year.  In a word:  Brutal!

Mid-majors throughout the country can get their gyms rockin at a much higher level.  Players, particularly during pre-game, will not like this.  Hopefully, it will be changed and the admin folks will get more in touch with what is appealing to players during the entrance and warmups.

I don't think this program is ready for a "signature song" yet. How about a different one every few games just to keep things interesting. Rock one week, rap the next, country, reggae,...the possibilities are endless until a particular favorite becomes obvious..
