Cale

Sam

Connor

Brice

Juwan

Just start this lineup Wednesday and see what happens.

Unfortunately we won't be playing Arizona State again. Though Georgetown maybe down to one post player as well.

The question that will be eating up generations of Husker fans regarding the 2024-2025 Nebraska Cornhuskers:

"What if Cale Jacobsen had been playing 20mpg all season?"

I mean probably not much difference considering he wasnt playing big 10 competition.  Now, could he have been a better facilatator than an injured Rollie at times?  Maybe?  Not 20 mins though

ASU was a really bad team.  We shouldn't look any further into it than that.

I think there's something there with Griffiths. I believe the issue is between the ears, and with some time and sticking to it he could be useful.

He's already halfway through his career, Fred's development track record here is not good and do you have time and room to keep trying at it.

You already have Lawrence (rumored), Essegian, Sandfort (rumored), Janowski, Frager and Rhymes at the 2 & 3 spots.  that's 6 scholarship guys and you still don't have a good defender or a guy who can get to the rim.  Can you afford wasting another spot on a mediocre player?

Janowski and Lawrence more 1/2 types than 2/3 types. Essegian is purely a 2.  Frager already looks like he’ll be a 3/4 like Gary based on his body type. Lawrence is a good defender. We don’t know if the freshman are good defenders yet. I’d say there’s room for another wing player. Will it be Griffiths? Who knows?

Lawrence isn’t a pure point guard.   He can play it in a pinch, but is better suited for a combo role.     The idea of adding him because of his versatility.

So we definitely need an athletic wing and a pure point    Those are needs with or without Lawrence and or Sandfort.

He would be better served in a different conference, or perhaps level of play.  Way too weak to play in this league.  Gets completely displaced with the lightest contact.   And he's never getting that call in this league. While he is athletic vertically, he's not horizontally, which limits options to play him on the wing defensively.  Not strong enough to defend the post, not quick enough to defend the drive.

I think Gavin was headed to the portal prior to yesterday, but the game last night may have cemented it for both parties, as Cale’s play could’ve factored in. Fred was very complimentary of Cale after the game, I’m not saying Cale is going to start or be a major minute guy, but Fred clearly trusts him to be out there. I don’t think he trusts Gavin on the same level…

Reminder that Gavin was unavailable to play last night.

Yep, but even if he were available, I don’t think he would’ve seen time ahead of Cale, Cale was practicing very well since the Iowa game and it was planned to give him more time - just worked out that the smaller lineup was the most effective

This is like the back up QB getting some playing time and has some good plays and then everything thinking he should be the starting QB.  Good for Cale that he gave some nice minutes against a bad basketball team but let's not go crazy thinking he should have been playing 20 mpg this season.  If that was the case, we wouldn't even be in post season.

20 minutes might be a bit much but considering Rollie was hobbled and the lack of production most games from Ulis have to wonder if he might have made just the 1-2 plays we needed to help us get over the hump in these close games. I think with the ability to basically pay for a scholarship that we're getting quality rotation guys for walk-ons and the continuity of running in Hoiberg's system for multiple years can help to overcome lack of explosiveness or speed. When Cale was jumping those passes vs ASU it was anticipation as much as anything else.

Considering ASU got into the post season at 13-19, pretty safe to say that Cale playing 30 minutes a game wouldn't have kept us out.

I see everyone is taking a clearly joking post very seriously.
