May be in the minority, but this seems like a really good opportunity for a team like Nebraska. You don’t really need to worry about players opting out and going to the portal because most of our team

Some college athletes, especially seniors, just want to keep competing and playing the game they love.  Ty Robinson had a blast in New York trying to get that Pinstripe participation Trophy.

Not to be lost in the craziness of March, but Nebraska has a chance to make history here as a possible last champion of the Diamond Head Classic AND first champion of the Crown and do it with the same

Some of the problem is that Hurley recruits like Matt A... it's star city down there and often times he's trying to coach a mess of guys who might not fit together.

 

They beat St Mary's and navigated one of the better non-cons before completely falling apart in conference.

They kicked starting forward and leading scorer BJ Freeman off the team towards the end of February.  Freshman post player/Top 10 recruit Jayden Quaintance has been out with injury since then but could be back. He made the all Big 12 freshman team.

 

Fred has watched enough Alonzo Verge tape where he's probably a bit familiar with ASU's offense already. They take and make a lot of 3s so seems like we will either win or lose this game by 20.

While still playing, Bobby was involved in a significant car crash and he suffered a multitude of injuries.  I believe one of those injuries was a signicant head injury.

We should have all of our top guys.

 

Combine that with the chance to earn some more $$ and the chance for Brice and Co. to showcase in Vegas. I don’t think this is as bad as some think on the outside.

 

I thought it'd be more NIL so that maybe we could use some of it for the transfer portal, but looks like it'll just be enough for the current seniors to split it up if they win. The path looks very winnable.

I have been talking with a buddy about the crown tournament. 

I think Fox and the conferences associated with it are setting up this tournament so  they can invite teams that are eliminated from the first 4 rounds of the NCAA tournament into the crown....in future years.

 

This could make the crown interesting if you can bring some Blue bloods eliminated early and invite some teams that made a cinderella run into the sweet 16....

 

If they pony up some NIL, the players will be interested in playing and they could even have a preliminary portion of the tournament to invite teams like Nebraska that missed the NCAA and get those teams down to 4 and then invite 4, 8 or 12 teams that want a second chance to play.

 

Otherwise, i don't see why they are initially setting up this tournament playing games 2+ weeks after the conference tournaments...

If you're playing a tournament that takes 6 days and doesn't overlap with the NCAA tourney, between the Elite 8 and the Final 4 is your golden window of opportunity

The summary of the teams I read this morning said that one of Oregon State's biggest wins this year was their victory over fellow Crown team, Nebraska????? AI must be slipping.

I certainly don’t think we’re great.  But it’s a mediocre field.   And we very well might have the best player in the tournament.
