It's wild the turnaround Fred has made at NU, he was flailing with a 21-66 record before winning at a 52-30 clip in the past 3 years or so. His overall record is 73-96.

Context is important - Coach Hoiberg has done a really good job of adjusting and adapting through a really challenging first 4 years. He started with a plan that didn't work, he began to adjust and then got hit with the Covid thing, which set his plan back by at least 2 years. He has stayed the course, kept adjusting, and it appears he has an approach that can be successful at Nebraska. I'm not saying he's doing everything right and there's a lot of this season left, but he seems to have a good handle on it now.

Congrats to the team on the tournament win!

After a chance to sleep a bit, I have a few more thoughts:

1. The  defense is fantastic. If Connor can up his defensive game we will be incredibly tough to score on.
2. @Norm Peterson you are right about Meah keeping people out of the lane. Sometimes I struggle to see his benefit on the floor, but that aspect is huge.

3. We need more consistent contributions from the PG spot. Hopefully a healthy Uhlis will help with that.
4. Berke plays with not only energy but confidence. I hope Griffiths will be able to do that by the end of the season because I have a feeling there’s going to be a game or two when we need someone else like him to hit a 3 or make a play. His athleticism and confidence in Lincoln last year were on full display. It would be great to see that from him again.

GBR!!!!

We do such a solid job of forcing to the baseline and rotating. I know that’s basically our D and what we’re supposed to do, but it’s not the easiest of philosophies and requires all 5 guys to be on the same page.

Rollie had moments yesterday that were really a head scratcher. But he does a lot well, so hopefully that was just a 1 game thing.

With limited games this week, does Bruce go BTB for B10 POtW/ National POtW

It's 33-13. But, still, pretty darn impressive!

33-13 isn't 50 games though, which was the point of his post. Jacob Bigelow posted the 37-13 stat last night, so I assumed it was accurate.

It was a 4 point game with 3 minutes left.  Huskers ended with a 11-3 run.  We've been great this year at ending games.  That's what it is going to take.

This is an excellent point I also wanted to make. Our guys have done a great job of closing games, making games that are close going into the last 4 minutes not so close at the end. It demonstrates a resolve that I've rarely seen out of Husker teams in the past and can't be understated because I expect them to be in *a lot* of close games in conference play. Last night, they turned a game that was basically a 2 possession game the entire time into a 12 point win in the final minutes (it helps that OSU inexplicably fouled with 9 seconds left). That 6-8 point swing is big for our confidence, perception, and most importantly our metrics

It was a physical game last night.  I have said before, I like when the referees let players play.  My angst is when calls are not consistent.   I am guilty of biased observation when watching, so my reaction last night was that OSU was getting away with being handsy and impeded our penetration with few calls.  That changed the last few minutes, which certainly played in our favor.

Finally, an observation about our bigs.  It is playing out that we have three (I am not counting Juwan) good bigs that have complementary talent.  Great to see.  What is equally good to see is our staff seems much more comfortable with the three of them.  That bodes well for the remainder of our season.

Watching the boys hoist the trophy and one thing really stuck out to me that I think has gone relatively unnoticed (because we’re winning).

We’re doing all of this WITHOUT Mast.

I’m going to live in the moment this whole year, but next year is interesting and exciting to think about.

According to KenPom it's 39-16 since the first of February 2023.  Which is 55 games.  And if you want to just go back 50 games (including last night) it's 32-15.  If you take out the postseason games (BTT and NCAA) you get 37-13 over the past 50.  (38-13 if you want to go back to the start of February 2023)

Awesome to win a championship trophy!

Our next game comes pretty quickly.

Big thanks to Oregon St for fouling instead of letting us dribble out the clock so we could extend the lead by 4 extra made freethrows.

Just curious what is so interesting and exciting about next year as we lose a ton of seniors after this year.  We are losing Ulis, Williams, Gary, Morgan, Worster, and Meah.  What makes you excited about next year losing all this experience?

We may land Ulis one additional year; but it isn't a given.

If we can keep finding a decent amount of experience in the portal it will go along way. If Mast is comes back, and we can call up a couple Summit League/MVC guys I'll be pretty gruntled.
