I'm liking the sheer athleticism of Frager, and we could use him right now, to be clear.

He is not close to being ready to play at this level right now.  He has talent, yes.  Remember that he is still young.  I have only seen him in person three times so far this year, so maybe I did not see the same games you have.

He actually struggled in one game I saw him against a big rival.

I guess I am pleading with fans, not to have unreasonable expectations.  Let's at least give him a few games at this level.

I'm just referring to his freakish athleticism, which was an element sorely missing from NU at UMd. That's all that referred to...

Southwest exits the district tournament and will not make it to state.  Braden's next stop is the Husker lockerrom.

LSW finished with a 15-8 record including a 82-50 season ending loss to Millard North in the district final.

Stat line: 18 pts, 7 reb, 27% from 3, 50% from the field and 78% from the line.

Heard he might redshirt next year, which I don't understand when you could play another year of high school ball.

Seems like it could depend on how much playing time would be available for him.

it's a win-win for Nebrasketball, but I'm not sure if it is for the young man not experiencing his SR yr. of H.S.

A year on the scout team playing against college level talent, with college level training and nutrition, and getting used to the system. Or a year playing 25 games against high school kids. I know which one is better for development.

Missing your senior year though, pry depends on the individual how much that means to them. It seems in this case he’s ready to move on.

Strange, his point total was reported as 25 in the LJS story this morning.

He'll play more basketball at a higher level redshirting at Nebraska next year than he would starting every game for Southwest. If his goal is to be a contributor as a (redshirt) freshman at Nebraska, then skipping his last year of HS and enrolling at NU a year early is a good play. He'll get strength training, individual workouts, film study and the like at a high D-1 level and he'll get mental reps during games. If being a better player is the goal, leaving HS early is the right play.

I think I would rather see him play his Senior year, redshirt the next year to develop and then play out his career at NU.  Since the pendulum is swinging back to having experienced players (like we have now) instead of Frosh, the older the better. Especially with the NIL money coming in.  The problem with redshirting is that it can also lead to a transfer for the athlete.

I think it's a double edged sword. On one hand, getting actual live PT will trump practice time he gets on the scout team.

But on the other hand, getting on a college regime early, learning Fred's playbook and where he fits positionally a year early is hard to pass up (my guess is a combo wing between the 4 and 3, depending on matchup). Physically, I'd say he's pretty close to being there. Probably could work on his body a bit more and get up to 220+ from 210. Spend a year working on his shot, learn from two very experienced seniors in Gary and Brice and be ready to compete for PT in his second year once they leave.

Plus, HS is not everyone's cup of tea. I know me personally, I couldn't wait to get out, but I do understand it is a time to cherish (I bounced between 5 HS in 4 states, so my perspective may be clouded).

I understand the thought of developing his game in a college practice atmosphere but this is not like football where an athlete gets a jump on things by enrolling in the spring.  He gets four years to play college basketball. I would prefer he is a year older doing it.

Maybe he was one of those kids who was held back and is already old for his class? Who knows, I’m sure they’ve thought it thru and it’s what he wants to do so why not. Everyone is different

If I had skipped my senior year, then I wouldn't have had to take physics.

I can say that the mop-up time I received on the court my Senior year really prepared me for the pick up game competition that I would face in college.  If I tried to go a year early to college I might have been overwhelmed by the average to below average talent on the pick up game circuit back then.

I kind of wonder if he could eventually slot into Gary’s role.  He seems very athletic and  could be pretty rugged with some college S&C.  I don’t know if he could be quite as good defensively as Gary but offensively I think he would do well eventually.

I think that's his spot at this level. A 4 who can rotate to the 3 if needed in bigger lineups. Defense will be the factor that swings it one way or another
