Any updates on Juwan Gary's status for Friday?

All I could find was an "uncertain" comment on CBS sports. Seems like they should have an idea by now. CBS also said that either Tominaga or DD would start if Juwan were unavailable.

Should get media availability early this afternoon before the team leaves.

 

My guess is Fred will just say he's questionable and that he'll make the trip.

I would tend to agree with your surmise. If it were a fracture or dislocation the decision should have been known yesterday.

Gary's shoulder is an ongoing issue.  He originally injured it his freshman year at Alabama and he jammed it vs Omaha.

His sophomore season he missed 2 games with a leg injury and 2 games because of a 'facial contusion'

Yeah, I saw that too. If true, that's a huge issue. We just don't have anyone on the roster who can come close to replacing what he does.

 

We've seen the past several years what it looks like in the B1G when we don't have much of a rebounding presence.

 

Hopefully, Fred is being overly, overly, overly cautious here. But then it wouldn't be Nebrasketball.

I know he had an MRI last week, but it sounds like he might be done for the year…Hope not

Very well could relate to the shooting death at Alabama.  I assume Juwan knew/played with the young man invoved.

Fred on BTN just now... "Unfortunately his shoulder injury is pretty extensive and he's going to be out a while."

He's going to have surgery on his shoulder which will put him out 5-6 months.

Awful news - going to need a bunch of guys to step up and fill his shoes. Hope he has a full recovery for next season.

This really sucks. Hope this surgery fixes some underlying issues and allows him to be 100% (or close to it) next year.

Looks like that presumption came to pass, sadly. 

 

Really hope Gary is back & better than ever for his SR campaign in Lincoln. He's a difference maker, obviously.
