At one time or another, according to my count, there were 72 Division I men's basketball games scheduled for Saturday. Forty-seven were played while the rest were canceled or postponed. So 35% of the schedule was eliminated by COVID-19.

We should be a lot more worried with staying outbreak free than occasional teams dropping out on us. Gonzaga is pausing for 2 weeks and is missing 4 games during that time.

Could be a path to get to the NCAA tournament this season for many teams.

Thinking more about it, wouldn’t have minded seeing games scheduled for the 28th of Feb - Mar 7 being earlier.

That’s about 2-3 games per team.  Was thinking it may have made more sense to do those 2-3 games in December.  Leave the 28th-7th for make up games and for teams to quarantine if needed before the BTT on the 10th.

Let's see, Duke is now 2-2 so they figure they have already cinched a #2 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Which they won't play in because they'll be non-conference games.

Stated that it's for player safety and then stated that he is going to "let his kids go home for Christmas break."  I want to lead off with... I know that we all need to see family during this time and that these are 18-22 year old young adults, but we also all have made some sacrifices in not seeing family because of safety.  Sending kids home, on planes, etc. isn't any safer than getting tested multiple times a week and playing basketball.

Was really hoping we’d be looking for a filler game this week.  Haven’t hear any rumblings at all.

I have to think they are, they just haven't announced anything. It's 10 days between Creighton and Wisconsin, they have to imagine they realize that is an ideal window to get in a game. I'm sure they're looking

They cannot practice until Wednesday per Hoiberg in Creighton post game presser (ncaa rule?) so maybe that decreases the likelihood of them wanting to schedule a game during a shortened week.

Per Robin Washut: in state opponent rumored for Thursday as Wisconsin game pushed back a day to Tuesday.
